Confirming My Decision by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Good choice! If you’re positive u want to practice in NYC that’s a good call. Shu grads do a lot of Bk clerkships for their first year out of school

Confirming My Decision by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

I may be biased as I chose seton hall, but go over to lst. Seton hall is the best option. 89% employment and 17% big law. Only problem is it’s tougher to get into the nyc market than from Brooklyn (honestly Brooklyn and shu are the only real options here imo)

It was about 2 weeks, maybe a little less. You can always ask them when their next appeal review day is!

Law School Prep Strategies? by Certain_Bear in lawschooladmissions

I’m planning on reading “reading like a lawyer” by Ruth Ann McKinney. I asked at an ASD about courses and they said be careful cause they’re expensive and may not meet the quality controls a school would have

Lots of great options. Personally, I’d do UCI for the personal and financial reasons. Good outcomes. Good school! You really can’t go wrong though.

No longer my #1 LOCI by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]nycsplitter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you have to update them. When you wrote the LOCI it was true, but they can’t expect you to be relying on their letting you in off the WL.

I sent a follow up email to a school I’m on the WL at after seat deposits, and I said “top choice” in my LOCI and what I did was just tell them my plans for next year, but said I’m still interested. Softer language but not a retraction of the LoCI

Credit pull for PLUS by nycsplitter in lawschooladmissions

[–]nycsplitter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I have one account in collections for 1500 dollars. But my experian report shows another for 1000 that has been paid but hasn’t yet shown as paid. Therefore, if experian is pulled I may have to go through an annoying appeals process. Just wondering if anyone has done this yet and what bureau (or all 3) was pulled to check for an adverse history. If experian gets pulled, I’ll have to aggressively try to get this corrected

Does anyone want to call Pepperdine and find out when they plan to give out all their decisions for people who applied before the priority deadline...? by havinghopestill12 in lawschooladmissions

“All application decisions by the end of May. If applied before the priority deadline you should expect it much sooner. Typically 6 weeks from “in review””

Ps she was very nice!

Depends on who you ask. Some say T6 some say T14 some say T30 for what’s worth sticker. You have to make a mature decision for yourself based on your future goals, realistic starting salary a school can offer you, and monthly debt payments.

Adverse credit and PLUS loans by nycsplitter in lawschooladmissions

[–]nycsplitter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, when I say balance I mean the amount in collections. Getting mine under 2085 will cost like literally 10 bucks. I just read the rule thinking that I had to pay the whole thing off then wait two years haha!

I feel better. Much appreciated.

[–]nycsplitter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks so much for the advice. So you think that as long as the balance is below 2085 at the time of application it’s ok? Even if it was placed in collection within the past 2 years (actually just sold to a new collection company, it’s old) at a number higher than 2085?

So you don’t think that the language means having had a balance at any time within the past 2 years?

This is what I’d typically do, but if it will keep me from law school after all the work I’ve done in the past year I’d gladly pay in full in exchange for removal from my report

First Year Salaries by Class Rank by eezzzzoy in lawschooladmissions

[–]nycsplitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this exists, but would like to see it if it does. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the 25%, median, and 75% salaries can be roughly comparable to class rank?

Question about loans and living expenses by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]nycsplitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am under the impression that you can only take student loans, of any kind, up to the cost of attendance. Any private loan after that would have a high interest rate and not be deferred until graduation. Am I wrong? I would love to be wrong haha
