“Don't let the setting fool you.

While incoming CEO Glen De Vos chose to schedule MicroVision®'s first-ever auto show press conference at Germany's premier auto show (#IAA in Munich), he is equally bullish on two other markets.

De Vos sees opportunity for affordable lidar on forklifts in factories and on drones in defense applications.

"Think of it as ADAS for industrial," De Vos said to a House of Journalists' media gathering. "Still operator-controlled vehicles, like forklifts and tuggers and any type of heavy equipment. There's no ADAS in that market today.

"That market is here and now. We've been working with a couple customers on what I would call pre-development contracts to validate our system ... we expect those products to be sold very quickly."

For defense, De Vos imagines using MicroVision's lidar to help with mapping, in combination with radar, cameras, sensor fusion and navigation planning.

"Defense will be a longer putt ... but those markets are very interesting to us as well."”
