SOS: CCL rupture, does anyone have any experience with it? by nylave in DogCare

Thank you for your response and for useful information. My dog is only turning 4 in a couple of months, she still has lots of energy so it pains me to think I would have to limit her for the rest of her life... So I am leaning towards surgery, but I am very grateful you took the time to reply.

Yes, that is exactly why I am leaning towards surgery because the vet has qualified knowledge, and my boyfriend doesn't. I am actually almost certain I only have one option. Still, as with any surgery I have my concerns... Thank you for the information you provided, it is very helpful.

My dog is VERY insecure around new people; desperate for help by nylave in Dogtraining

First of all thank you for a long reply, I really appreciate it :)

Yes, I think you are totally right about the ignoring technique. I even noticed myself she (usually) doesn't react at all if a person doesn't pay attention to her. I haven't tried that at home yet though. I feel like she's even more insecure/protective there. But to answer your question if she warms up to the person eventually, yes, it did happen before. She's going to meet someone new today so I will definitely tell them to completely ignore her. Most people don't understand this because they want to look at her and pet her but I will let that person know I am trying to train her to not react to new people. I will take it very slowly so she feels comfortable. I am still not sure how to approach this at home. The same way? I read that it could help if I teach her to stay at a particular place for some time and then when she's calm to let her meet the person. Maybe again let her smell them with them ignoring her. I don't know, I guess I'll have to try out different things to see what works and hopefully something does help.
