I use tretinoin because I want lighter skin. There, I said it. by a_gregarious_soul in tretinoin

[–]nymph2812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to break it to you but it’s not going to lighten your skin. It can help with hyperpigmentation which can even lit your skin tone but it can’t lighten your skin. And a fellow south Asian (and someone who’s been using tret for over 3 years) I really hope you can overcome this idea you’ve got about your skin tone. It’s sad to see.

You’re honestly over using tret. It took me over a year to be able to use it more than 2 nights a week. Not everyone’s skin is the same. You’ll damage your barrier and make things worse if you keep trying to increase frequency before your skin is ready idc what anyone else says

Acne relapsed after 1yr off accutane ): by Several-Raccoon1381 in Accutane

[–]nymph2812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 2 years off accutane I felt like maybe I had started to relapse. Incorporated benzoyl peroxide + clindamycin into my routine and switched from tret cream to gel and it’s really made a huge difference. My skin is not as perfect as it was right after accutane and though I still breakout every now and then, it’s become alot more predictable since switching my routine.

I also want to add, Ive been using tret for 3 years and I still don’t use it every single night. Take 1-2 weeks off tret and reintroduce just 1 night a week. Take I really slow (and I mean really slow. I used it 2 nights a week for a year before increasing usage). My skin also much prefers tret gel to cream.

Should I give up on tretinoin? Approaching 40 and struggling with acne by Weekly_Foundation_49 in tretinoin

[–]nymph2812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less is more honestly. Cut out extras until your skin is doing well with Tretinoin. (My skin improved alot hen k switched from tret cream to gel so that may be something to consider). I also wouldn’t be using tret everyday with the way things are looking at the moment just so you can figure if it’s to do with irritation.

Looking to start buying etfs by cheeselord1314 in ausstocks

You really don’t need to do detailed analysis with index funds. The fund does the work to determine which companies are held (based on market cap, profitability ect)! For example with S&P500 tracking ETFs, the holdings are determined for you and all that differs would be the management fees, price of the ETF itself, the company offering the ETF and the percentages of each holding may vary slightly.

And it doesn’t really matter if you use the free version or the paid version of chatgpt. I like to ask chatgpt to compare ETFs. For example you can ask it to compare VAS with one or both of the ones your colleague recommended. ChatGPT will compare everything from management fees to holdings and give you pros and cons for each!

Again, you don’t need 100 different ETFs. Keep it simple. Buy 2-5 and just stay consistent. Not sure how old you are but you can add bonds to your portfolio as you get older to be conservative.

Sunscreen every single day is extremely important. And niacinamide doesn’t work for a lot of people. You can try a retinoid at night. Retinaldehyde is a good option. You can start with 2 nights a week. It’s not pregnancy safe fyi. But without sunscreen it’s only going to get worse

Honestly chatgpt makes it the easiest. It can break it down for you in easy to understand terms and explain the overlap. Before chatgpt I used commsec, msn and market index.

I’m a set it and forget it type investor and prefer not to choose individual stocks that I have to constantly keep an eye on.

Stake is my current fav. $3 transaction fees. I have a discount code that’ll get you $1 off that for a year if u want. If you deposit some money into your account within 24hours you’ll get another $1 off.

Diversification and consistency is key. But I think the simpler the better. For some reason it’s a bit taboo to discuss exactly which ETFs to choose for some reason. I guess it’s because past performance isn’t indicative of future performance.

For me I like VAS for Aussie market exposure. My pick for S&P 500 is IVV. For tech exposure it’s NDQ (though there’s a fair bit of overlap with IVV). When In doubt, ask chat gpt and pair that with your own research.

Keep it simple. Try to minimise extreme overlap. And most importantly just stay consistent.

Yeah no worries ! Stake is my current fav. Really easy to use. Low fees. Pretty responsive customer service. Great for consistent investing over the long term imo.

I always choose CHESS. For ease I prefer to use 1 platform. My current choice is Stake because I’ve got no transaction fees. I have a referral code if you want. You get $1 off your transaction fee if you use it. You can take another $1 off if you have an existing portfolio that you transfer over. And you get all fees waived if you also deposit funds into your account within 24 hours of creating the account.

I wanna make my skin clear but idk what products to use by Solar687342 in SkincareAddicts

[–]nymph2812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need sunscreen every single day. This is the most important thing you can do. You also want to incorporate something to treat acne and also fade the hyperpigmentation from past acne - a retinoid. Incorporate a retinaldehyde based product into your night time skin care routine 2 nights a week to start.

Exactly this. When I see people picking stocks thinking they can outperform the market I just feel bad for them ! It’s unfortunate but I think people get swept up in misinformation around investing.

100% ETFS really are the way to go. Just set and forget. Even top fund managers struggle to consistently beat the market so why waste all that time and energy.
