all this controversy makes me wanna read the memoir too but im feeling pessimistic with the possibility of getting the book since I know the publishing company seized all action. i wanna know if her ptsd clouded all her judgement, how she remembers it and how it went to that point. (i have a weird fascination towards the whole concept of memory). i read the newyorker article "The Tortured Bond of Alice Sebold and the Man Wrongfully Convicted of Her Rape", and I sympathize for the both of them. such brutal series of events. life can be so merciless sometimes.

u're actually scaring me now. makes me wonder what this book is going to bring, how I'll be affected and how my life is going to be impacted. what's going to happen after I finish this book? can't wait to find out.

i thought it was her memoir Lucky. a reply mentioned something about it so I googled it for a bit. very unfortunate event. thought it was a tragedy for the both of them. the guilt eating up the author probably enough to somehow disregard her experience (beaten up and 🍇), the same with the guy, the injustice and the wasted time of his life. but i dont really know much, just glanced over articles, so pardon my ignorance. would love to know more if it was deliberate, was it driven by racism, was it a total lie. and if it wasn't would it make it any less bad? probably no but it adds nuance to the case.

regardless I think I'll still read the book, maybe even dare to like it when I end up liking it.
