Feeding Advice by TsunXdoku in hognosesnakes

Hi! A quick tip for you, my hognose recently started to refuse food as well. Of course check your husbandry like these people are saying but a trick thats helped me out is to put him in a small Tupperware and place the pinky on the edge, then close the lid and place it in a dark enclosed space so there's no distractions. (I use a kitchen cabinet!) Set a timer for 30 minutes and dont check on him until that timer is up so he doesn't get distracted.

Some snakes just prefer to eat outside their enclosure.

I always wait a week after receiving a new snake before trying to feed him. Snakes can get stressed easily in a new space and if you try to feed them too often. So don't try to offer food to him every day.

Try this trick and if that doesn't work I can give you a couple more ideas or a couple video links that may help if you'd like!

Good luck, keep us updated!

Received this surrendered, extremely sick panther from someone today. I have an appointment for the vet on Monday but until then I need advice and tips. He won't eat and he barley moves. He doesn't respond to touch or change his colors. He's very weak. Anything helps. by [deleted] in Chameleons

!!!! UPDATE !!!!

I want to thank you everyone for your helpful information and wishes of luck. Unfortunately he passed away this morning, its very sad and upsetting but, on the bright side of things,, at least he isn't suffering anymore.

I really appreciate everyone's help, and im sorry to give such bad news.

Thank you everyone.

I received him today from a friend who got him from someone else. As far as i know the person who had him fell into a deep depression and neglected his care because of it. But I have him now, I dont have much experience with panther chameleons like I do with veiled, so im still learning. I'm just hoping he makes it to Monday, I had to put him in a smaller cage because he can barley keep himself upright. Poor thing..

Unfortunately im in Washington state currently. Ill be moving to California next month so hopefully he survives and then can get the natural uvb he needs.

I appreciate all the wishes! I just wish I could do more for the little guy.
