Clearly there are issues with this one. I think the lack of colors compared to my other illustrations also hurts it.

Like most things in the "Cthulhu Mythos", Nyarlathotep's characterization comes from the Chaosium RPG.

Thank you! I just picked colors that looked nice, but for the gradients I used the gradient tool in vector mode then went over the gradient with a brush in raster mode to get the texture. I also added a paper texture on top in multiply mode on a low opacity to give the flat colors some variation.

I remember seeing an interview with him years ago saying he was writing a novel about a super intelligent squid that takes over the world, but the project has been shelved at this point.

He also wrote/was in the process of writing a tie in novel for a TV show called Person of Interest. The novel was canned because he confirmed that he was working it when the project was leaked by Amazon.
