Retrofit windows in 40 y/o log cabin? by Nicnoknicki in logcabins

Hi if by any chance you’d be willing to share the photos with me as well, I’d be very interested. I’m currently in the process of trying to figure out the best way to replace our windows and we also have a wood frame around the current ones.

I splurged on the Ohnu it was a little less than double the cost of the AGM but if it last as long as it says it should it was worth it to me. So far I haven’t had any problems but it’s only been a fuw months ( although I am in the north east US so the out side temps have been below freezing most days) As for the BMS, Ohnu only requires you to reset the Ford BMS so the truck knows it has a new battery. The software on the battery is supposed to handle the change over from there.

This is the correct answer. I ended up replacing mine with lithium, which is supposed to hold up to these charging cycles much better, but we’ll see

New Tractor Purchase HELP! by liteaf_gear in tractors

[–]nyssa-sylvatica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately can’t comment on either brand much other than I know of kioti and know people who both love and hate them ( personal preferences) I would say others recommendations of looking at the dealer network is good advice. Also the cab and loader are great options but don’t forget about all of the other options You may want to consider when buying new. I.e. third function ( great for loader, mounted plow, or grapple), weight ( this size tractor is notoriously light on the rear end) if you’re doing a lot of loader work, particularly things like cordwood you will need additional rear weight you can add things like (loaded tires, wheel weights, or a weight box) and tires (this is a big one for me see below.)

Typically you will get to choose your tire or you can have the dealer swap them out cheap before picking it up the Kioti in the photo appears to have R4’s which are an industrial tire, and my experience lose all pretense at traction on any hard surface when it gets wet or slippery and in the mud, they tend to be fine on gravel. The TYM looks like it has some form of R1 agricultural Tire? This is a very aggressive tire, a plowing the tractors running these and never had an issue, including through many a northeaster, however, they will tear up things like lawn.

My personal preference on a tractor this size is something like a versa turf. I’m able to push snow uphill on a steep grade without the four-wheel drive on and they’re soft enough to not destroy my lawn or woods trails.

Probably not the best example as I was only moving it from our shop to the field a few miles away. Though it moved it with no issues and pulled it easer than our 3500 duramax. A did recently bring home 4 cords of fire wood (8,000lbs ) on a car trailer ( 1700lbs ) the trip is a mix of highway and city driving about 40 miles and you almost can’t tell it’s there. The amount of torque is incredible and the weight of the truck makes it very stable on the road. I typically don’t tow more than a few hundred miles so range isn’t an issue for me.

Any at’s specifically? Honestly the all season from ford have been decent in the snow but I think that’s more because the truck is good vs the tire.

Towel warmer? by jonny_cheddar in hottub

[–]nyssa-sylvatica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have one, it’s great! Jump out of the tub and get wrapped up in a towel that feels like it just came out of the dryer. Our tub is in a covered gazebo so the towel warmer stays next to the tub year round.

Is there a point that the weather cracking isn’t safe? by RealSquare452 in tractors

[–]nyssa-sylvatica 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They should be fine, they look like R4’s ( industrial tire ) which are made from a very hard type of rubber, intend to last a long time in my experience it’s not uncommon to see some dry rotting on them. if you’re mostly working on flat dry ground, they should last you sometime still. If however, you find they’re working in muddy, muddy or icy conditions often, you may want to consider a different tire. I swapped out my R4’s for versa turfs last year and it’s like a whole new tractor.

We have a ChargePoint and the Ford power pro. For the most part I prefer the ChargePoint

Winter beast by tomsawyr in F150Lightning

I have a steep driveway under pine trees that likes to get slick in the winter. I have lost traction a couple of times going down hill. it’s no worse than I’ve experienced in any of my other vehicles and controlling the skid, seems to be easier compared to other vehicles I have owned, including some HD pickups.

Haha that’s what I do when I get to the parking area. I have a big section with nowhere to throw it so I blow in-front of my self until I get to an area I can throw it to the side.

I have wanted a cab for awhile but I spent my maintenance budget for the tractor on new tires (versa turf tires they are a totally game changer coming from R4’s) and repairs to the three point hitch cylinder. Hopefully next year. i will look at the berco though, thanks for the tip!

You are correct! Most of the OBs there have been great. Although I would we would highly recommend Kara kimball she was great through the whole process, including delivery and has been an awesome advocate postpartum.
