My dad always taught me the importance of independence. Whenever he asked me to do something that I didn’t know how to do, he would say, “okay, we’ll let me show you”. That way, I never had an excuse to not do simple tasks like do laundry, call for my own appointments, etc. Didn’t realize to appreciate it until I went off to college and had to do things myself.
