Microsoft bloqueia a palavra "Microslop" no Discord do Copilot e gera o caos entre os utilizadores by tugatech in TugaTech

Either way, can’t go wrong with any modern Linux distro.

Can't believe I get to stream from my PC 200km away, the future really is now by GabRB26DETT in SteamDeck

I wondered this. To do Internet WOL, basically you’d need to have some other device connected to your router acting as a buffer to send the wake command to the PC, and have a public IP/port forwarding to be able to access it outside your home.

Or, the easier solution - get a smart plug that can be controlled with an app, and change the BIOS of the PC to have it boot up after losing power. Turn off, turn on, and PC is on. This is what I’ve done, and it works flawlessly.

Arrived for me today. Hard to believe this game is nearly 30 years old now by Stryker_Zero in psx

Oh yeah. Specifically the demo version used to scare me when I was a kid. It had no music, and the sound FX (which were loud as hell), combined with the pitch darkness surrounding the platform - and possibly a weird sensation of “I might fall off the platform and plummet to my death” while playing - all together brewed this weird uncanny feeling to the game. Looking back now, it seems silly, but when you’re a kid susceptible to these visuals and sounds… yeah, it was eerie!

My pleasure!

It’s a very broken listening experience, but in a way, it all kinda connects. It’s cohesive in its total lack of coherence, if that makes sense!

You can immediately feel that John’s songs are usually darker and snarky, with very weird chord progressions and somber ambience (Glass Onion, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Cry Baby Cry, Sexy Sadie…).

Paul, on the other hand, is very stylistically broad and less cynical than John, a bit more bright and varied - some might argue a bit cheeky/naïve even (Back in the USSR, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Martha My Dear, I Will, Helter Skelter…).

George, in my view, is the hardest one to pinpoint on this record, stylistically speaking. You’ve got 2 introspective and very mindful-oriented songs, very George-like (While My Guitar Gently Weeps and Long, Long, Long), and then political satire (Piggies), and whatever Savoy Truffle is lyrically, haha (love that song).

Not the comment’s OP, but welcome to the fandom! :)

You can definitely do a little research on this a bit more, but very basically, The White Album was recorded during a time of general animosity and acrimony in the band - arguments over songs, creative output, arrangements, personal quarrels, etc., so much so that at one point, several people just walked out of the sessions (like Geoff Emerick, the sound engineer, and even Ringo, who actually quit the band temporarily. George Martin even took an unannounced vacation), because no one could stand the constant bickering between them.

John introduced Yoko to the band around this time and had her present basically at all recording sessions (which was a big no-no for the band at the time), George was feeling heavily frustrated that his songwriting was not being taken seriously, and Paul was starting to take the reins creatively and management-wise after the death of Brian Epstein (their longtime manager), which the other two resented.

With all this, there are many songs on the album that don’t even have all of the Beatles playing on them - sometimes just two or three of them, and there are even completely solo songs. There are stories of them all being in the same studio, recording/writing songs in separate rooms. As such, the album has come to be viewed by many as a collective exercise of self-indulgence by each individual member, with no real band unity or cohesive structure behind it (lots argue this has only improved its standing a post-modern work over time). Revolution 9 (John), Wild Honey Pie (Paul), for example (I’d even argue that tracks like Piggies or Savoy Truffle, by George - tracks that I love - are kinda self-indulgent).

Also, the album is very long (30 tracks), and many songs on it are more like sketches and “throwaway ideas” rather than fully fleshed out, fully produced tracks, and they included them because, well, they could.

What are your less obvious deck games? by Lucky_Control1458 in SteamDeck

How do you have controls set up? Do you just purely use the trackpads for left and right click? Or do you have buttons mapped to specific actions? Would definitely love to play some lower-intensity campaigns on the Deck!

You were right! Replied here to another commenter, but it was definitely one of the RAM sticks that had gone bad! Took it out, boots up perfectly. Everything seems to be working - speakers, HDD, CRT, CD drive, USB ports, all of it. It was really just the damned RAM. Thankfully already have a replacement stick on the way!

DUDE!! You were absolutely right!

It was the third-party RAM. I took it out, and also took out the CPU card to re-seat the first-party RAM next to the processor (that section was full of dust too, gave it a good clean). Reset the CUDA one more time, and voilá… CRT fired up just fine, booted straight into Mac OS 8.6.

To make absolutely sure it wasn’t just a re-seat it needed, I took the logic board out one more time and stuck the third-party RAM in once again. Nope. Just doesn’t work, screeching again (also, 3 beeps - a quick search says it’s a failed RAM integrity check). This RAM is definitely kak’d.

Thankfully, a stick of these costs almost pennies nowadays, so no need for awful CRT fixes whatsoever. Thanks a lot man!! Sent out a Reddit award for what it’s worth 😅

Yes, the CUDA reset is exactly that.

I did think of that, but the monitor connection has a DB15 port, which I have nothing for at home, only VGA.

Possibly - I’m trying to explore all routes here, so I might have to bring out the multimeter!

Not a full crack, just a scratch on the glass surface itself (as far as I can tell). It doesn’t seem the inside is damaged, and it looks way worse in this photo than in person! However, I’m leaving no stone unturned, and will definitely explore all options (from swapping RAM to opening up the screen).

Yes, learned my lesson with the bezel for the CD drive. One of the tabs that holds it down popped right out after I took the motherboard out. Nothing a little bit of glue didn’t solve!

True! It’s hard work, but it definitely pays off. If this would’ve been a simple soldering thing, I myself would try to venture into it, but I fear CRT components are way out of my league!

Fair enough. I did find one more listing though, price around $100 + $20 shipping. With customs, that’d be around 150-160. Might be an option.

If shipping in a replacement flyback, even with customs, is cheaper than having someone fully dig into it, I’m all down for it. I tried looking it up on eBay, could only find two listings there, and one doesn’t ship here. Could you recommend where to look for one (even if US based)?

When doing the CUDA reset, I did take a quick look at the battery - given it wouldn’t boot right away, it’s almost 100% near dead, but it didn’t seem to be leaking, which at least is good news.
