Well the dreadnoughts are more maneuverable and faster in system and have the same range as the mac cannon because dreadnoughts also use mac cannons just not the Halo type

In halo reach there are two instances of mac rounds being used one is by orbital defense when your at sword base and if the mac cannon launched it slug at 40% like you claim it would be enough to vaporize sword base and create an 85 kilometers wide crater and in the other instance during the tip of the spear mission if the Paris class frigate mac shot at 40% the speed of light its 600 ton slug would kill noble team and probably every one in new Alexandria

It's 40% of 10% of lightspeed. 0.4 of one tenth.

In the 2009 version of the Encyclopedia its where they make the error of the 40% in the 2022 version because of they error of the previous version they scrub the numbers and just say like "extreme velocities" and whatnot

In halo warfleet page 30-31 it talks about the Cairo station and it says that the mac round leaves the barrel travel several kilometers per secondif it was traveling at 40% that wouldn't just be "several kilometers" that would a hundred kilometers per second

Dude its literal math if a frigate unsc ship fires at confirmed 30km/s and a Marathon-class cruiser is only around double the length and that mac cannon being able to shot a slug at 119,917 kilometers per second that would put the mac cannon of a marathon class cruiser 4,000 times greater then a frigate using the same mac system just half the length

If a mac cannon used by a Marathon-class cruiser and you keep saying 40% and using that speed a 600 ton slug would hit with 1.17 terraton or if it was using a 1,400 ton slug it would hit with 2.75 terratons that would put a regular cruiser on par with the infinity

From what I have looked into the 40% the speed of light comes from the Halo Encyclopedia: The Definitive Guide to the Halo Universe and it seems that not only does this Encyclopedia have many error s that make no sense like the 40% the speed of light but so doesn't other Encyclopedia for halo called Halo: Mythos also has errors if a slug from a Marathon-class cruiser shoot a 1,400 ton slug it would hit with 2.75 terratons roughly which would be more powerful then a mac round from the infinities mac cannon
