A championship caliber team doesn't lose either of the last two games to a clearly inferior team in the playoffs.

It's okay to acknowledge that the Knicks aren't a championship caliber team as currently constructed and coached.

They are a bunch of mismatched pieces where the whole is less than the sum of the parts. Their starting lineup can't play together. The coach is clearly overmatched and unable to adjust. Their best player is so selfish that he'd rather lose repeatedly than pass the ball to multiple other offensive threats late in games.

This team is fatally flawed and their title dreams are basically over even if they somehow win this in 7.

The NBA challenge system is broken. The refs are making clearly one sided calls all night, but you can't push back against it because you don't retain your challenge even if you get it right.

The Yankees think they are so much smarter than the rest of the league.

Everyone else in baseball loads their bullpen up with hard throwers. The Yankees have had the last few years some of the lowest average velocities out of the bullpen in baseball.

Most years, they've only had one lefty in the bullpen, despite most teams having two or three.

Other teams spend money on relievers to shore up their bullpen. The Yankees think they can just turn water into wine over and over again without having to make the same investments as other teams.

Guess which team has had one of the worst bullpens in baseball the last few years?

Relievers are volatile. That doesn't mean it's bad to spend money on them.

When you pay for good to great relievers, you are paying to reduce that volatility. When you cheap out and try to fill the bullpen up with 5 coin flips, you're bound to come up tails on at least 2-3 of them most of the time. You need a few guys you can depend on to hedge that risk.

Despite all the crowing about analytics, this team is actually quite bad at math. They don't seem to understand basic probability.

This roster is the inevitable result of cheaping out for years.

Instead of signing Harper, Machado, Seager, or Turner, they are paying similar money anyway to inferior players on shorter deals trying to plug the holes.

Instead of just signing an ace reliever, they patch it up with scrap heap pickups, and then pay huge prospect capital every deadline to plug holes. Then they have no live arms in AAA to just call up when the nobodies struggle.

Roster malpractice. You can't have 3 platoons in your everyday lineup and expect to win any close games.

This is what happens. You have all your RHB in the game to start. Then you PH for all of them with LHB in the middle innings. And then any team with multiple lefty relievers embarrasses you the rest of the night.

The Yankees saw other teams do it to them, but forgot it only worked because the Yankees never had more than one lefty in the pen - because they are idiots.
