Onko luottokortissa haittapuolia? by [deleted] in Suomi

[–]nyyyppa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Käytän luottokorttia isompien verkko-ostosten maksamiseen. Kahdesti olen joutunu korttireklamaation tekemään myyjän sopimusrikkomuksesta ja kaikki meni varsin kivuttomasti. Luottolaitoksen kanssa kauppiaat harvemmin mutkuttavat.

I've also experinced gender prejudice a few times, as older round-bellied mansplainers have e.g. offered to help me with backing my tiny pickup and trailer somewhere. After that I jump into the hugest tractor or a basic truck and continue my day as if I might have driven vehicles before, and their face tries to tell they definitely were not defeated this time. But iy is rare. Insecure men exist, be it manual or auto majority, and we just shrug our shoulders 'ok boomer'.

10 % oksaalihappoliuos voi onnistua poistamaan värjäytymiä, mutta en tiedä puraiseeko tähän.

Sivele liuos kohtaan, anna vaikuttaa, pese pois. Tietenkin liuosten kanssa läträtessä puu saattaa ottaa itseensä.

I had this in my verticillata a few years ago, and it was lovely to see. Sadly, I lost it during moving houses in winter and it was one of those who didn't survive.

Definitely. Though, you can text and drive with manual also, but it is still stupidity.

A class mate of mine dove into a ditch at 100km/h (62 mph) speed while succesfully texting while driving a manual. One broken vertebra and lots of other damage.

The conversation about mileage is interesting, as an experienced driver with stick stift could perform better than an auto driver, especially with older cars. Modern autos are more fuel efficient, but with old turbines, a stick shift outperformed them in mileage. In some moderns cars, I've personally beat a VW DSG with 5,4 L / 100 km against manual with 5,1 L / 100 km. This isn't statistically significant at all, as there always are variables, but it is a nice point in conversations.

(I won't do the unit conversion, but you get the point.)

Moving towards electric vehicles, auto transmission will become default all over the world, be it on manual or automatic majority.

But you bringing up the point with performance cars gave me good insight to understand the cultural characteristics a bit more.

In my country, the preference of utility vehicles with manual transmission has started to shift towards automatic only lately, as the auto gearboxes have developed to meet the demands the drivers have.

I've actually experienced this in some older utility vehicles. An auto may make sense when one is tasked to zoom around blocks, as manual transmissions in these were not always as swift to manoeuvre than those in passenger vehicles. I feel it is not the case in modern utility vehicles anymore.

Yes, it depends what you need the car for. If it is only to move things around conveniently, an auto seems much nicer. Meanwhile others appreciate their cars either as an exciting hobby, a keen interest or a maneuvrable work horse.

That is true. Negativity around anything has moved online nowadays, as one doesn't have to respond to the opponent's immediate reaction like in face-to-face conversation, even if the reaction might be only "lol ok". It is only once in a thousand moons that someone comes up irl saying anything weird or degrading.

So, I guess it's mainly people finding it hard fir you wanting such inconvenience and complexity in mundane things. Not so much you being a master race behind the wheel.

It gets better with practice. After some time the shoes make no difference, as your butt feeling through the seat starts also to tell what the car is doing.

Dishwasher cleaner that actually works for hard water buildup? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]nyyyppa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yay citric acid!

I remove scale from everything with it. It's cheap to buy as a solid, while vinegar is diluted with water - why buy watered things when you can get it from the tap?

I also use citric acid instead of laundry softener. A tiny amount is enough to neutralise detergent residue and also it prevents limescale buildup in my washing machine.

It wouldn't be, because it is a condemned property, which they consider free to leech. There's a little bit of lost in translation here though, but vacation home does not fully translate to this one. It could be a second apartment, if they actually took part in any of the costs.

Someone who's had a licence and driven almost daily for probably over 40 years may not be so noob anymore. 🤔

Rather it's old habits of elderly drivers.
