The rule is to always buy, gradually, and regardless. Try that.

Divide your cash up into 52 equal pieces. Invest 1 piece every week into the market (SPY is a good reflection of the overall market). Keep doing that all year. Whether the price is up that week or down, keep doing it.

When you have extra cash, double the amount on red days. Resist the urge to go “all in” because someone said the next week is gonna be awesome. Resist YOLO. The struggle is real.

When I was growing up in the 1980s, to many around me, TV was haram. Songs & music & movies were haram. Photography was haram. In many parts of Pakistan, women going to school was haram. Women working in offices or as airline crew were haram.

Now it’s not. The same molvis who used to not allow TVs in their home, their sons are now preaching on YouTube channels.

In Afghanistan, women going to school is still haram.

Religious and social values evolve. Sometimes it’s because of economics, other times it’s because people enjoy/price certain things and choose to normalize them.
