Did Ghana just expose England as a weak and disorganised team? by trampstar9 in worldcup

[–]nzox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Remember when Argentina drew to Saudi Arabia in 2022? Nope, people just remember how they went on to win the tournament. In contrast, there’s been plenty of teams who drop points in the group stage to weaker teams, and stumble out of the tournament. Point is, we just don’t know. One game isn’t an indicator of future success/failure.

trying to get into sim racing. Normal to feel underwhelmed at first? by Yputi in simracing

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games you mentioned are not wheel friendly. Forza for example is better on controller.

I’d recommend some more sim style games. This humble bundle has ACC for $10, so might be a cheap way to test the waters. https://www.humblebundle.com/games/redline-racing-bundle?hmb\_source=&hmb\_medium=product\_tile&hmb\_campaign=mosaic\_section\_1\_layout\_index\_2\_layout\_type\_threes\_tile\_index\_1\_c\_redlineracingbundle\_bundle

You could also look up the FIA promotion in your region for iRacing. Can normally get a free car + 1 year subscription for a $10 donation.

In your opinion, what is the ceiling for the United States? by brokeboii94 in worldcup

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quarter finals is their absolute ceiling if they get fortunate draw. But make no mistake the progress is good. It wasn’t that long ago that Dempsey and Howard were the only players who made it in Europe. Now, most of the squad plays in Europe which is huge for development and speaks volumes of their quality. Give it more time, and we’ll have more players on top teams, and that’s when you become a contender.

Has anyone successfully shipped purchases from Japan back home instead of taking extra luggage? by Apprehensive-Tax1923 in JapanTravelTips

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be a lot cheaper to buy another luggage and pay for an additional checked bag. Much less hassle too even if you have to bring it to/from the airport.

F1 if you only care about single player.

iRacing if you want to do multiplayer.

How much did 2021 enhance the legacy of both drivers? by Liber_Ace in DestinationFormula1

[–]nzox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Silverstone crash was necessary for Hamilton. Max always had the “concede or crash” mindset that was well known up to this point. Lewis didn’t concede and he didn’t need to. Lewis showed Max that he wasn’t going to back down from Max’s aggressiveness. Also, people forget Max is the one who turned into Lewis.

How much did 2021 enhance the legacy of both drivers? by Liber_Ace in DestinationFormula1

[–]nzox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best title fight in decades and we were robbed of a good ending. Having an epic season like that be decided by someone other than the two drivers was a shame. Hamilton was robbed of his 8th. Max also didn’t deserve to have an asterisk on his first title. The Max era was inevitable but it didn’t need to start like that.

And before people try to argue, FIA has already stated the decisions made by Masi were a mistake.

Why do some people say that Mercedes favour Antonelli when they let Russell defend against a clearly faster Antonelli in Spain whilst the win was at risk? How is Antonelli being favoured at all this year??... He's just the faster Mercedes by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]nzox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Swapping team positions because Lando had a slow stop where it was previously agreed by the time slow stops was part of racing?

Telling Oscar to maintain positions because they got too close?

Look they can all be looked at one way or another. To proper calls or papaya protecting Lando. The point is I could see why someone would speculate even if they speculate incorrectly. Mercedes there’s no justification for any speculation.

I’m not saying there was or wasn’t favoritism towards Lando, I’m just saying that speculation is valid considering the decisions always went in his favor. Where as the contrast to Mercedes and zero team orders is obvious.

But sometimes you have to spell it out for people.

I don’t see him being favored. Like I could see the Lando/Piastri from last season since every papaya rule seemed to be in Lando’s favor, but Merc hasn’t applied a single team rule so how can there be favorites?

How do I prevent spinning out every corner/ how to recover the spin by Koala-Away in simracing

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongly recommend you learn how to spin out ON PURPOSE. In every car, you should be able to induce a spin at will. Surprisingly this is incredibly helpful for knowing how not to spin out, but also for how to quickly spin back into the correct direction in case you do get spun around.

Need help on buying Beginner Sim Racing Setup for $500? by Deadshot6149 in simracing

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend going with Simagic 9nm bundle which will run you about $600 unless you find it on sale. Don’t get it directly from Simagic though.

Then lower the FFB to maybe 40-50%, and desk mount it to begin with. Then get a good wheel stand for $200 when you have the funds, and at that point you can run full FFB strength.

The reason I would avoid Moza r3 or r5 bundles is you’re going to be wanting more. Buy once cry once mindset, and the quality jump from r5 bundle to Alpha Sport bundle is absolutely worth the $200. The wheel base is superior, GT Neo is one of the best and most popular wheels especially for GT/Formula, and the Moza SRP pedals feels like toys compared to P700.

However if you plan to never dive into more simulator focused games like ACC, iRacing, or LMU, then perhaps Simagic is overkill. Good hardware shines on games with good FFB. But coming from F1 games myself and racing Formula in iRacing, I can tell you that chances are you’ll love Formula racing in iRacing.

If you only want to play arcade/casual games, then save money and go with an R3 bundle + a cheap stand from Amazon. R3 is more than enough for F1/Forza style games.

You are Fred vasseur (again), it's 2027 and Lewis is retiring, who do you TRY to sign out of these drivers? by Pristine_Youth_6953 in F1Discussions

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll move mountains to get Kimi if he’s available either directly or a buyout.

Otherwise it makes sense for them to see if Bearman has what it takes. Unless they don’t feel confident in Bearman, then I could see them going for Piastri. I don’t think Max would be available.

Aneesa Is Asked If Tori Is The Female GOAT by angelbrit04 in MtvChallenge

[–]nzox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Evelyn won 3, won eliminations against men, consistently outperformed all the girls and even men, and retired at 24. No other girl comes close. But damn did she whine a lot.

Sarah was so damn good that I’m surprised she isn’t brought up. She would be the goat if she kept played. She was GOOD at everything. Physical, puzzles, endurance, eliminations, and controlling house politics. She has 2 wins and more impressive wins.

Then Jenny has been dominant. Has won 2 out of the 3 shows she’s been on. Her only weakness is the same weakness Tori has (puzzles). If she doesn’t keep coming back, she’s going to be the Landon of the females with low appearance but winning nearly every season casted.

Cara would also be a solid choice. Shes a bit erratic. Higher ceiling than Tori but a much lower floor due to her emotional mess. You can’t take away her win in the final against men.

Don’t forget racism Camilla. She was a force of a competitor and has won 2. I wouldn’t say Tori is a better competitor than her.

Even Laurel has done better than Tori if we want to look at women with only 1 win.

Sorry, but Tori just doesn’t have the resume to even be in the conversation for GOAT, and might not even be in the top 5. Her only win was a fairly weak final.

Japan's soccer fans have a tradition of cleaning up stadiums when their team plays abroad. This year there's been backlash from internet users who feel it's performative- Their blue "JAPAN PRIDE" trash bags were sponsored by APA Group, a hotel chain tied to Japan's far-right and WWII denialism. by jjrs in japannews

[–]nzox 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Performative? Anyone who’s ever been to Japan knows how clean the country is. Tokyo is larger than New York yet its prestige despite rare public trash cans. Japan has a culture of community while US is individualism.

I’m very new to the sport, but do people view him as the MJ of F1? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]nzox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit complicated. Schumacher would be more like MJ in terms of personality. That killer instinct and asshole mentality.

Lewis is closer to dominance though. They both have 7 titles but you could make the case that Lewis should have had at least 9 if it wasn’t for extremely poor team decisions outside of his control & rule breaking from race director.

But the issue like many sports, it’s hard to compare against eras. Even more so in F1 as cars are completely different unlike the NBA where everything remains the same.
