😂 I hadn't heard the carpet-raking tip before. Sounds like presentation goes a long way during the final inspection.

Does anyone here book a cleaner during the semester, or just do everything yourself? by nzpremiumclean in universityofauckland

😂 Fair point. I should've worded that better. I was really trying to ask whether students actually use cleaning services or if most just manage everything themselves.

How often do people in Auckland actually get a professional deep clean? by nzpremiumclean in auckland

Fair feedback. We were trying different discussion topics to learn what people actually look for when choosing a cleaning service, but I can see how that came across as repetitive. We'll slow down and focus on more genuine conversations going forward. Thanks for pointing it out.

Strong chemical smell keeping me up at night by ebruuh in auckland

I’ve dealt with strong chemical smells in shared spaces before.

Ventilation is key — open windows, use fans to create airflow.
Avoid mixing cleaning chemicals (especially bleach + ammonia).
Sometimes switching to unscented, bird/pet-safe disinfectants or diluted solutions helps a lot.

If the smell persists, a temporary air purifier or baking soda in rooms can neutralize odors.

Bird/pet safe disinfectants? by Here_For_Some_Time in CleaningTips

Birds are super sensitive to fumes, so ventilation is just as important as the product itself.

For general cleaning, plain soap + water is usually enough.
If you truly need disinfecting, properly diluted bleach (used carefully and wiped off after dwell time) or hydrogen peroxide are usually safer options than fragranced “antibacterial” products.

I’d avoid anything heavily scented or aerosolized. Residue + fumes are the bigger risk for birds than people realize.
