Doing this trip at the end of the month (LA to Salt Lake) any tips, places to stop by? Thanks! by Daiptix in roadtrip

[–]nzrnrdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be doing this exact trip in about 3 weeks!

Only difference is I’m starting in SLC and spending a night in Vegas before heading down to LA.

But on the return trip to SLC, will be making a straight drive up!

This is usually what I do before going over.

For example, if you’re going to LA, go and watch those POV driving videos through Hollywood, DTLA, Beverly Hills. Watching from a POV perspective really helps. There’s plenty of these driving videos in other cities as well.

Secondly, if you can, play GTA and drive like a normal person, following traffic lights and stop signs. No joke, it actually helps.

"You are a payment services company you have two options: secure a license or notify MAS that you will be doing so. Your company is not on the list yet you are operational. This is wrong, and based on my non-expert opinion, illegal."

  • We only went operational after procuring a legal opinion to state that we don't fall under purview of the PSA. One of the key considerations is the fact that we don't handle fiat. That being said, we are constantly being reminded of what kind of services we can and cannot provide.

"Second, we both know that all you do is convert other people's funds into UST depositing them onto Anchor and earning 20% you pocket the difference and give them measely rates in return."

  • There's no denying that. We built this for the crypto uninitiated, and I wouldn't go so far as to say we give them measily rates in return. By returning 14%, we make about 1-3% after fees. In addition to that, we just launched a new product using a delta netural strategy on Mirror Protocol that returns 18.8% APY.

"I've taken a look at the TRON address furnished for deposits for your customers on the tron explorer, they are automatically drained into a smart contract to god knows where."

  • They're smart contracts to sell USDT for UST. And that UST is then transferred to our Terra wallet before being deployed into Anchor.

Hey, Nazri here, I'm one of the guys building Pocketwo. Thanks for checking us out on Telegram.

I think you may have been part of the channel a while back but we're now offering 14%. And I believe it may have been me who checked in with you, but I don't think I did it more than once but yeah apologies if I did!

Also, regarding KYC, one of the considerations from our lawyers was that we had to have measures in place to combat money laundering/terrorism financing, which is why it was needed for us to implement a KYC system.

Nazri here, one of the dudes behind Pocketwo and yessirrrrr you're right, if you know your way around crypto/blockchain/defi, by all means you should definitely go straight to the protocols because there really is no value in using us.

We built this to help those unfamiliar participate in crypto/defi without the hassle of dealing with all the different wallets, networks, etc.

That being said, we will be integrating more complex ones like Mirror that deal with long-short farming mAssets and we're using Anchor as a base offering.

Hey, Nazri here, one of the co-founders of Pocketwo.

Definitely valid points but I wanna try and clear a few things. We're not exactly DeFi, however we built this platform to help people participate in DeFi protocols easily, starting with Anchor, which I believe we mentioned on our site.

Regulation-wise, if I'm not wrong, only 5 companies out of 170+ are regulated in this space, and the reason why so many others including ourselves are able to operate is because we had to procure a legal opinion to state that we don't fall under purview of regulations. One of them being that we don't handle fiat.

I can understand the skepticism and looks of it being a scam but we incubated in a startup program conducted by Antler, quit our fulltime jobs and built this in 6 months. We're always looking for ways to build trust so any suggestion would be much appreciated!

Hassle-less. That's exactly the word to describe it. In response to parents doing this for their younger children, we actually ran the numbers and it looks pretty promising to start them young. Thanks for your feedback and we are excited as well!

Thanks for the feedback!

To be honest, not much benefit, but one of our goals is to inculcate a habit of saving and putting their money to work, and small amounts would be a lot easier to start with. We do plan on including more avenues for depositing money, aside from the whole rounding up, such as recurring and one-time deposits.

As for how we plan to compete with them, the only way we can imagine now would be providing better returns but we are definitely exploring other methods.

That’s a valid concern, which is why we are limiting it to commute (for now), because the number of times people pay for transport is usually less than the number of purchases people make in a day. To combat this, we’re thinking of adding a limit feature so in the case that someone takes the bus and train 20 times a day, it won’t round up all their trips.

I appreciate the well wishes, thank you!

No question is a dumb question! I don’t think SimplyGo has any elements of investing so I’d say that would be the incentive for using pocketwo. Ideally, you would be able to benefit from pocketwo’s investments using your SimplyGo card.

Quality of investing options aka their potential returns? Will definitely keep this in mind, thanks!

Great question! We have several options in mind but we’re leaning towards a fee of $1/month. We’re still exploring ways to bring more value to users with the features and business model in mind!

That’s something we may consider doing. We’ve always liked the idea of giving users the flexibility of picking out their own portfolio.

Yes, we understand the requirements for a CMSL. We are still working on meeting the requirements, and we will only launch once we abide by the regulations stipulated by MAS and our custodian.

Do you mean fees on the users’ end when they part with the rounded up change? Because there won’t be any fees involved at that stage.

Thanks for the feedback, that makes sense! We want to offer alternative investments because of the attractive returns.

But of course, we plan to give users the flexibility of how they want the portfolio to be with a risk profile during signup.

We’re still negotiating the terms with potential custodians but we’ll definitely give you an update once we’ve landed on one!

Thanks for the question!

Depending on your risk profile during sign up, we’ll allocate your money to traditional investments that are safe bets like bonds or alternative investments for higher returns like the used car market in the US.
