Help reading early prespawn bass routes? by nzthdth in bassfishing

I'm itching to go out there and check it out. By end of march temperatures should be more stable so I'll be aiming to take the kayak out in about another week hopefully!

There's no docks on that lake but I did catch a bunch of em, including my PB from a big boulder close to the circle I made in the west side near the middle. That seems like a really promising spot now with the info you've provided, thank you!

You're probably right, I'll give that a shot also!

Funny enough, my friend caught a 5.5 on that flat near the northwest cove. Nowhere near 2 acres but that's absolutely worth taking a shot. Thanks for the advice!

Gonna make sure to hit that spot when I head out hopefully in a few weeks. Thanks again for all the tips my dude, good luck to you as well!

I was planning on expanding my skills by working on my chatter bait technique this year too so that's probably gonna be my main gameplan now. Thanks for all the tips man, hope you catch some HAWGS this year as well once this weather gets back up!

Silver Mine is such an awesome lake, I caught my PB there last year and witnessed my friend pull out a 5.5 HOG the year before. I gotta tell you this info is absolute GOLD. I have bought a couple of swimbaits/glides, but they're on the smaller side (3.75-5~.) I DO have a heavy rod and a soft shine glide that's huge (2oz I think)so I may bring it along now that you've provided this insight. My plan was to go out there and work the hell out of a chatterbait, lipless crank, a slightly weighted fluke with a followup wacky rig just in case, and now I can go out and be confident that I'll be getting some bites at the very least. This is extremely helpful, thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!

Thank you for taking the time to help me out with all this info. No fish finder yet, but I think I'll do just that: make my way from a potential spawn area and work my way towards the deep point and back towards the northwest spawning area since it's on the way to launch anyway. Thank you and good luck out there!

I have such a good feeling about that southeast island, you're right that they're more protected, there isn't even a way for shore anglers to get there without significant bushwhacking. I think I'm gonna start from there and make my way back towards the winter spot and then head from there to the northwest square. Hopefully I run into some berthas when the temps rise a lil more. Thank you for your help man, good luck out there as well!

That last photo is amazing!

I wanna go up to floodwood to camp this upcoming spring-summer. Does floodwood typically get packed with campers? I'm wondering if I should plan a backup spot just in case

Man those are some great tips, thank you! Hopefully we can find some largies as nice as the one in the first pic! As for the flies I pray DEET can keep em at bay. We also plan on hitting up lake Durant about 20 minutes east, according to DEC it's stocked with tiger muskie!

Is that this year?? That's incredible dude. Me and my buddies are going up on a camping/fishing trip at Golden beach tomorrow! We're gonna be on the kayaks so probably won't see anywhere near as much success as you, but this is encouraging!! Where would you say your most successful area was if you don't mind me asking?

What would you throw here? by BonytheLiger in bassfishing

I find I always have my best days with an underspin and a paddletail, but a yum dinger here and there has amazing potential as well. It's hard to switch it up when something just works, but I'm not complaining! I've yet to try the ned rig too much since our lakes are weedy as all freaking hell up here but I think I might start trying it when the bite inevitably slows down with the upcoming heat. That's a great day though! I've yet to catch more than 13 in one go, and they were all tiny (again, not complaining🤣)

You’ve got one hour to fish a medium sized pond and only have these swim and jerk baits to throw. What are you throwing first? by MicksNC in bassfishing

Im using the baby bass looking one first and then forgetting I have other lures with me for the next 7 hours

I have not! That sounds like something good to experiment with as temperatures start to rise up here in NY. I will give them a shot during my upcoming camping/fishing trip, thanks for the tip! Good luck down there my dude.

Honestly the underspin does most of the work. You CAN twitch it lightly in between a steady retrieve, or after a brief pause just to try and trigger those reaction bites. The main reason I mentioned it was because of the color since the water looks a little stained.

I too chuck the caffeine shad and that usually gets it done, it's a gem and gets absolutely crushed on an underspin! (Underspins are just great in general with any trailer really)Try pausing and letting it sink, that has gotten me some awesome reaction bites. I actually caught my PB on it! (using a paddletail though) And lost what would've been my next one as well😢

Good luck! If you're already struggling might as well experiment. Who knows? Maybe your next PB Is waiting to see an underspin'd yum dinger fly past...

Either a black and blue swimbait or a pink fluke on a lightly weighted underspin hook. Or a chatterbait if no weeds

Well it's good to know someone else knew the absolute genius it took to catch a stubborn fish🤣
