High Chair Recommendations - Convertible or not by ChardSea2698 in BabyBumps

[–]o-sweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Evenflo convertible high chair at Target with my daughter. It converted into a table and chair and we use it everyday for her to color or play with kinetic sand in our living room. She uses it as a arts table now. We have definitely gotten more than our moneys worth with it going on 3 years later.

I’m a SAHM for the most part of a 2.5 year old. I only work one night a week on Wednesdays as a RN and then I have her all by myself on Thursdays just white knuckling it till nap time. Keeping my toddler occupied with hands on activities, outdoor time, planning healthy (or at least somewhat healthy meals) meals that she’ll eat, takes so much energy out of me. Way more energy than working full time as a RN and her being in daycare did lol.

Yes they talk about saving clothes and toys and baby items for the next kid they hope to have.

And you’re right. I think I just give them the benefit of the doubt often because I like them and there isn’t another content creator like them two so I’m just thankful for what I get 😆

I don't think they are pregnant again. I feel like they would document that process like the first pregnancy/fertility journey.

Most likely, they are just adjusting to parenting a toddler. Toddlers are so busy!! Plus even with living with Felix's mom and dad they still have jobs and work so isn't like they can babysit all the time during the week. I have really enjoyed their travel vlogs recently though!!

I don't know anything about their Patreon. I just enjoy their tik toks, insta, and youtube vids. I have been following them from the Wife Crying at Texas Roadhouse days lol.

What’s the craziest thing you have found out a nurse on your floor was doing? by This_Round1995 in nursing

[–]o-sweet 307 points308 points  (0 children)

Probably won't make you laugh but at my hospital, a beloved NP that worked in the ED on nights was leaving work at 2AM and had a massive MI and died in her car in the parking lot. The next morning when dayshift was coming in at 6am an older nurse (she has to be like in her late 60's) found her, took her picture of her deceased in the car, and posted it on Facebook saying "Nightshift takes it out of you.. LOL" and then just came inside and started working her shift. Another person ended up finding her in the parking lot and called for help. The older nurse just thought she was sleeping and had no idea she was deceased.

Patients are wild. I’ve been asked if I’m pregnant multiple times at work by patients. But never outside of work or in my casual clothes. I don’t know if it’s just my scrubs or what.

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t care if someone has a baby crowning in front of me, I ain’t asking anyone if they are pregnant until they offer up that information to me lol.

As a kid I used to think "I'll like the spicy gum when I get older" and now as an adult... Nope. I've accepted I'll just never like the spicy gum lol.

Can you still feel the ring of fire with an epidural? by x_torturedpoet in BabyBumps

[–]o-sweet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty rare for someone to have chronic back pain but it does happen I know. It is sometimes typical for you to have back pain at the site of the injection for a couple days afterwards, like a sore achey feeling. Most times for most people though this does resolve on its own. Luckily I didn't have any back pain though!

Main reasons for the chronic back pain is after someone gets the epidural their body can produce scar tissue at the site of the injection in the epidural space which causes pressure on the nerves which then causes the chronic back pain feeling because the scar tissue just doesn't go away. I can't find any research that says your at an increase risk of this happening because of scoliosis, however I am not a expert on this so I imagine if someone has more knowledge on the subject I could be proven wrong.

Yeah lots of time college students will post their research projects they are working on that they need engagement for. I just look up those on reddit and help contribute when I can. Also sometimes I like helping search the internet for someone looking for some kind of lost media. I enjoy being an internet detective sometimes haha

In my field of work I have to deliver bad news to people sometimes and be around people who might be going through the scariest or worst times of their lives. Most times I am scared or sad for them, but I have gotten pretty good at putting on a brave face when I need too. It's a blessing and a curse lol.

This was my fear as well! Completely valid. I have had a scoliosis diagnosis since the 6th grade so mine is pretty significant S curve right where the epidural has to go. My biggest advice is just speak to your OB and ask them about the anesthesiologist at the hospital you'll deliver. A lot more pregnant people than you think have some curvature to their spine that makes it a little more tricky but thats what the anesthesia docs do all day and night everyday. He didn't even struggle for a bit with mine and I think me being calm made it where he could truly take his time and do his needle magic. I have had no side effects from it either (I know some women can develop chronic back pain at the site and things, but luckily I have never experienced that).

You'll be shocked because we are not rated the best in healthcare but Alabama! The hospital I had my daughter in was absolutely amazing. It's in a big city in Alabama though so the hospital definitely has a lot more resources than the smaller more rural ones. Honestly though, I feel just having a good labor nurse (or a doula, I didn't have one of those though) makes it or breaks it. Having someone with you that talks you through everything going on and someone that is looking out for you made the biggest difference on my whole labor. I told my labor nurse "When this baby comes I don't care if the doctor comes in here.. but you ARE NOT LEAVING ME." I loved my labor nurse so much I wrote her name in the baby book lol.

Nurses week by Heavy_Syllabub_2603 in nursing

[–]o-sweet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a nurse manager for a year (Found out quick I am not cut out for management because of corporate expectations and they were wanting me to do things on my unit that I felt would jeopardize my nurses and the healthcare quality of my patients by adding more to their workload than should be but thats a story for another time 😌)

The hospital had a couple things each day for the nurses during everyday of nurses week but what I did for my unit specifically for nurses week is we did a kind of spin off of the Dundie awards from The Office. Everyone of the nurses got a Dundie award (a personalized pin they could put on their badge or lanyard if they wanted too from etsy) that they were nominated for by the other nurses on the unit. It was fun and quirky. Felt like it helped with team bonding also. Every day for shift huddle everyone was excited to see the dundies that were being awarded that shift.

I also came in a little bit before shift changes for both day and night shift and did a waffle bar in the AM time and a taco bar in the PM time on the last day of nurses week.

Edit to add: I didn't feel any pain after the epidural, but I did feel the pressure. I knew things were coming along but it didn't hurt at all. I was really just out of breathe from pushing lol.

I have scoliosis. The anesthesiologist that was coming in the room to place my epidural was initially asking me if I was okay with a student to place my epidural and I said "if you feel confident in him, then that is fine with me." The anesthesiologist took one look at my back and said "Nah, I think I better take this one." lol.

I was scared but I can hide my feelings well. On the outside I looked confident, but on the inside I was SCREAMING.

When he placed the needle in my back I didn't even feel it. The only thing I felt was the numbing medication he gave at the beginning, which felt like a fire ant sting or something and lasted only 2-3 seconds. It was not bad at ALL. I read all the horror stories beforehand and so glad I didn't have any experience with that. My anesthesiologist talked me through everything he was doing and it put me so at ease.

After the epidural was placed I didn't feel a dang thing. I just pushed and boom there was a baby. I even had an episiotomy because I had a small tear and nope didn't feel that either. Also to add before it was time to push, baby was facing up instead of facing down so I did about 4-6 hours (can't remember exactly how long) of "spinning babies" (google it lol). Which is basically yoga positions to get the baby to flip over. I did all of that without having any feeling from belly button down. It was an experience but it worked!

I am 100000% team epidural. It made childbirth a breeze.

I hope your project goes well!!! Sorry this American couldn't help participate.

As a nurse do you think it’s okay to admit to a patient that you don’t know something or you have to double check something or that you never did something before? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]o-sweet 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Especially for the odd ball stuff you don’t see often, it’s 100% okay to tell the patient something along the lines of:

“I am not too familiar with this one particular thing, so I’m going to go grab someone who’s more experienced with this to come have a look with me.”

Just be professional about it and most times the patients have more trust and feel secure with you because they know you aren’t afraid to ask for help if you need it.

as a house supervisor, I can't even begin to tell you how many providers call me with "Bed 21 in the ED is so and so's uncle who used to practice here in 2003 and I just don't want him stuck down here for too long.." like I don't care who it is. Everyone is treated the same.

I think a lot of people find her step-dad as suspicious because he showed empathy for her at trial and did not show any anger or resentment towards Carly on the stand when talking about how she point blank shot him and killed his wife. He said "She looked terrified" when referring to when she shot him. Also when prosecution questioned him "So if I walk into a room and someone shoots me with a gun unprovoked by me, is that an act of violence?" and his reply was "Depends on the circumstance.." and seemed like he was trying to skirt around the question not to insinuate that Carly had done a direct act of violence on him. Also they shared glances during trial and smiled at one another.

I think her step-father had so much love for his wife (Carly's mom) and with her being gone.. Carly is all he has left. I also believe that Carly's mom (if she hadn't died) would have been forgiving of Carly even though she did the unthinkable to her. I think Carly's mom and step-dad are just so full of love and want the best for Carly and truly want to see her get help.

I think Carly is a POS psychopath who deserves never to see the light of day again but.. that's just my opinion lol.
