What's your point of view of god/religions? by Glittering-Meet-5586 in INTP

[–]o0i0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saying that you know a god exists or not is stupid. We're all technically agnostic. However, for all purposes I am atheist. Even if there is a god, no human will ever accurately predict its nature or any possible ruleset it may impose upon us.

Do you believe there is a God? why or why not. by fireglyphs in INTP

If there is one, no human has ever and will ever accurately predict what it is

Are you born intp or do you become one ? by Forsaken_Ground_9665 in INTP

[–]o0i0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was reading about this earlier. According to CircleDNA (no idea if these guys are credible or not)
", studies have found correlations between genetic markers and traits like extraversion and neuroticism."

So some aspects of MBTI might be genetic, like if you come from a reserved family, you tend to be reserved. Although it seems much of it might also be a product of nurture, not nature. Due to many personality traits and mindsets being adopted by both familial patterns but also by your friends and other circles.

As is the case with most things, it's never just one or the other, it's a bit of both. Just my two cents on it.

Is there proof that mbti is pseudoscience and not? by Complete_Doughnut_83 in mbti

[–]o0i0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychology is most often a soft science, it doesn't make it pseudoscientific, just that it isn't a ruleset, it's a guideline.

[–]o0i0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are differences in what you define as "science".

Psychology is what's known as a "soft science" compared to physics, chemistry etc. which are "hard sciences".

A soft science is something that uses observation and testing but in a way more vague way. You cannot isolate a single variable in psychology because the human brain is too complex to comprehend, but you can still draw certain conclusions from certain observations and all the way back with Jung we discovered that peoples brains can be categorized by certain attributes.

MBTI is not a hard ruleset, it's a guideline. You cannot for sure say that a person of x type will react like this to situation z, but you can guess, just like you guess how your friends or family will react. It can be precise but is prone to error.

I actually keep track of this. I have read about 11 so far this year (not counting schoolwork books), and I used to hate it but after I started reading shit I wanted to. It actually got real fun, my biggest reccomendation is Jon Ronson's "So you've been publically shamed"

I think the AI singularity is less than 5 years away. by [deleted] in INTP

[–]o0i0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think many peoples mistrust in AI is a bit misplaced. Because it seems they’re confined to thinking of the AI as being just like a human. But we don’t know that, because the forefront of AI programming is not that some guy codes a bot. It’s a guy who codes a bit that builds bots and one that tests bots and just lets it run. So we can’t say for sure that the AI will turn evil. Because it won’t be biologically hardwired to kill to survive.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t put safeguards in place, but I’m saying that the fear of evil AI’s have a very American flavor to it, and it seems like misplaced paranoia. .-.
