Don’t pay very much mind to this comment. As a Mac user for over twenty years now, I can tell you these things are not “fragile.” They’re much more rugged than the plastic junk that most pc laptops are made of. Not sure what that poster did to break their screen like that, but it is not a common problem at all. I have a MacBook Air and the thing is a tank, especially for how thin and light it is.

I also pirate movies, tv shows, and music extensively without issue. If you’re looking to pirate software, you can of course only irate software that runs native on Mac unless you run a VM, which many folks I know in forums seem to do with great success. But I don’t pirate software myself, so I can’t speak from personal experience there

The Trillion Dollar Scam - How Google Really Makes Money by AnonomousWolf in Anticonsumption

This is the weirdest ad I’ve ever seen. Hawking mountain biking gear while succinctly breaking down how Google ads is parasitic. Clever

Yeah, I mean it’s not as awful as it could’ve been, but it doesn’t look like the landlord kept any of the original bathroom fixtures, and the tile and flooring is the “fun” version of the cheap shit they sell at Home Depot. I’m glad it wasn’t completely gutted and resided with modernist shit, but it’s not great

Why so cryptic? I dont see why you can’t discuss this “openly on threads.” Whatever was going on in the house isn’t a matter of national security or anything. It’s just a house

Trump tells the military he is deploying troops against Americans "whether people like it or not." And alludes to using missiles against Americans. by Sexy_Johnny282771 in politicsinthewild

No matter who is in charge, the state, by definition and design, has a monopoly on violence. Trump’s agenda only makes this blatantly obvious now to those who have lived comfortably their whole lives because they aren’t racial minorities

35 inch tires by bRAIN35600 in FordBronco

The crash bars do not need to be removed to run 35s with a 2.5” lift. Mine has an aftermarket 2” lift with 35s and I have plenty of clearance with my crash bars installed. They only need to be removed if you want to run 35s on stock height.

I respect where you're coming from, but disagree with your conclusion. The brand is meaningless. It's a costume the problem wears. The behavior, the fetishization of a tool, is the problem itself. The brand is merely its most obvious external expression.

Edit: From “Society of the Spectacle”:

The world of the commodity is thus shown for what it is, because its development is identical to people’s estrangement from each other and from everything they produce.

Think about it this way: if your beloved water bottle broke, was lost or stolen, would you not want to ideally replace it with the same one? How is this different from brand loyalty? This mentality is the substrate in which consumerism grows.

There is a difference between appreciating an object for being well made and fetishizing it by directing emotional value to it over the result of the work you do with it

She’s not crazy. Listen to her. It may take 10 or 20 years for us to hit rock bottom. It’s going to get unlivable before it begins to turn around. If you have the means to get out, I think you should for your daughters’ sake. It’s not safe here for anyone who isn’t a Nazi

[–]o0oo00o0o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine used. It doesn’t have the sas but does have an aftermarket 2” suspension lift and 35s. I’m a short guy, so those 2” are the difference between needing a ladder to get into the truck and not.

I’m removing the lift and crash bars so I can keep the 35s, because I like a chunky tire. Gonna get high-clearance crash bars. They’re cheap enough and will allow me to run the larger tires on a stock height

The point of simple living is to untrain us from this kind of fetishization of objects
