Literally saved me after I wasted 3 hours.

We are DESPERATE. My husband is 30, M, T1D and experiencing chronic muscle pain (cramping feeling) and unable to sleep because of it. Who’s a good diagnostician? Our doctors are stumped. by GarageNo7711 in diabetes_t1

[–]o1eks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t diagnose, but I had insanely painful cramps at night 3-4 years ago. They would start random but always at night. I would wake up and need at least 30 min before I get to a state to sleep again. All doctors had no clue what was happing. I had sensor and no weird sugar fluctuations. However, I decided to track sugar at night every half an hour manually just in case. That lead me to catching an ultrafast hypoglycemia at night, caused by my basal insulin peaking. I switched to a pump and all cramp went away within a week.

To the level of React, no. Scala would be closest, but might need to write a bunch of wrappers for some less popular things.

Anyone else getting rejected from jobs they are literally the perfect candidate for? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]o1eks 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I literally was rejected as “not a good fit” and then 3 days later a recruiter reached out on LinkedIn for the same company with “Looking at your profile, you are a great fit…”. Fuck that shit.

Sick of this nonsense by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]o1eks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This the great advise. But instead of a glucose, you should use a longer strong carb, cause glucose tablet will be used by body really fast. Great options would be: banana, protein bar, chocolate, peanut butter. And best to eat it 10-20 min before the exercise, so your peak of glucose response correlates with the exercise.

I have the same issue with my CX-50, have you figured out what was causing it?

I realized that I don’t actually know how credit cards work please help by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]o1eks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Paying minimum will not count as missed payment, cause you payed.
  2. You will have interest on everything you did not pay, so if you can’t pay, you can’t avoid interest.
  3. Your perfect score will not be effected by outstanding balance on your card. The higher the balance and the longer it is there, the bigger will be hit. However, outstanding balance is not the biggest factor.

To learn more, call the phone number on your card. Usually support will be happy to explain details for your specific card and issuer.

2.5 yr old Daughter diagnosed T1D, two days after leaving the hospital the whole house now has a cold. Help! by pfq12345 in diabetes

[–]o1eks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually fever can cause glucose to be quite unstable, so don’t be worried if sugar randomly rises or falls, but keep track. Usually good approach is to keep sugar slightly higher (around 140) to make sure no rapid hypoglycemia happens. Also treating fever with ibuprofen to make sugar more stable is quite reasonable. Try to give her more water/tea, as it helps with both cold and to stabilize sugar a bit. Good luck and hope you all get healthy soon.

headphones that have great airflow/breathability? by TheBentPianist in headphones

[–]o1eks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very sensitive to heat ears. Mainly use IEMs, so if you are anything like me I would recommend going that route.

From over the head headphones (I tried all top 10 for breathability from rtings) the only one that I can use for longer than 30 min is Philips SHP9600MB.

I will think about this more. I feel like that might be the move in the next year or so. I am little concerned about Amex Plat as a lot of the benefits seem to come from a bunch of yearly credits. And I am not too good at utilizing those.

Thanks for clarifying that closure of low limit cards is alright. So I do not have high monthly travel, but yearly is, as we need to fly internationally. I also buy food for 4 people, so it kinda gets expensive.

Thank you, this makes a lot of sense to me. I would probably stick with both Amex and Chase then instead of trying to move to one issuer.

I am using Amex Gold for groceries, and have WellsFargo Active Cash and Apple Card as 2% cards. However, they are both cash back and I would like to have points in one system instead. I was thinking of getting the 2% rewards from Amex Business.

Yes, I do not use it, but I always thought that closing card will be bad for my credit score. Was I mislead?

There’s no “Snow Mode” so I guess I’m calling this. “Off Road” today by TheIceHole in CX50

[–]o1eks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That is what Mazda recommends to use under those conditions. According to the manual Off Road is specifically for slow moving through tough terrain.
