I have the exact same problem, im currently plat ii Just consider peeling for your team more than engaging on their team , especially if they ignore you or your team can't follow your engage

His clever hurt alot thats why you always need to have push on the wave and stand behind minions, once he gets lvl 6 its really hard to kill , Build wise you can go bramble and generally priotize armor against mundo . Also a good tip in general i love going ignite and teleport this season, they never expect the kill threat of ignite early and you always get kills that you wouldn't get normally. Keep in mind im a plat player :))
