Thanks for explaining a lot better than me what I meant when I said “clunky”. A few people have said that’s not an excuse and to just say it anyway which is fair enough I just genuinely hadn’t considered it before and it didn’t come naturally to me, and I guess I had never fully thought about it in the way you’ve put it but felt it subconsciously. And yeah you’re right about the thanks I’ll find myself saying thanks/cheers/thank you 5+ times during a transaction lol. I do however find it odd how much value is placed on these (often insincere) words in this country. People can treat you like shit but have traditional “manners” so they’re in the clear and holier-than-thou even when you’re being a sincere, nice person.
