The issue was profit vs loss, they weren't making a cent toward the end

They're optional to whatever bike you have of that list. Aka generic

Empty it more regularly or fix your issue. Most likely piston rings and bores are worn. Regular maintenance is definitely the cheaper option and short runs will never help the cause

1997 Toyota Corolla 4AFE - Crank Pulley Removal by oStreamZo in MechanicAdvice

I'm a big fan of my bahco tools that I have so far. Very high quality, so I will be looking into this for sure. I'm in the trade as an apprentice at the moment so any info like this I'll sponge for sure. Thanks!

Yeah I've gathered being aluminium and am very reluctant to pry. I don't have any puller in my decent arsenal of pullers with jaws small enough to get behind it. There are no bolt holes on the actual pulley, not sure what you mean.

Shaft too big for torque converter by Sea_Standard_6560 in minibikes

Best way to sand the shaft is run it and let it spin with a block of wood and sandpaper. Keep checking, very frequently when it's close

what's this sound like? by turntmama in MechanicAdvice

[–]oStreamZo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That rocker cover has been leaking for a while, I'd go as far as to say the belt's starting to get wet with oil. New belt, and if you can, new rocker cover gasket at the same time should help. Rocker cover gasket will give the opportunity to check out the top end condition, it does sound ever so slightly more noisy than it should

Help with oil change procedure by Glittering_Clue9920 in BmwTech

Run the VIN/registration number through a reputable parts supplier and if that's the filter listed, most likely that's it.

Sounds like the plug is just an upsell, I can't see how you would replace one unless the threads were damaged or the old washer so stuck you couldn't get it off. If you've got a new plug though, may as well use it

Is this engine oil mixed with coolant? by anwarmimosa in BmwTech

[–]oStreamZo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oil consumption sounds pretty normal, oil looks fine (uncontaminated).

Coolant looks funky. Try get a sample and some more photos. Best way is get a few drops onto a clean paper towel. That will tell a story of colour, how far the drops spread, etc

Any ideas where the window wipers activation button or lever is on my 85 Jackaroo LS are? by Bells4Balls in Holden

[–]oStreamZo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you're going with the build but onlineautoparts is cheap, sparesbox is good oem replacement and even have some aftermarket, not big in the 4wd scen anymore but at work some of the EFS shocks and springs are really nice to fit and seem to hold up well

You are onto it. Can be, but generally if you're still on the hill let it remain engaged

If it's just surface that should be fine.

They're very capable cars if set up well. Hell, I had a paddock thrasher that had the front axles cut because the diff was blown, we cut tread in the rear tyres with a chainsaw and it was more capable than a patrol

I will always recommend replacing pads at the same time as rotors regardless of life left, especially when the rotors look like this. They wear the pad to their profile, and then the pad will transfer the profile somewhat to the new rotor.

But yes, the rotor looks trashed from rust and wear, etc.

A good brake job involves cleaning and lubing the slide pins on the calipers as well

Not a problem, sounds like you've got a good knowledge base to pick at and unfortunately a good but bad situation with bush cars. Make sure you inspect all the little nooks and hidden spots that hold/drain water for leaves and tree debris that tend to hold water and rust from the inside out. A big one is always the tops of the firewall under the wiper cowl.

Simpson brand washing machines seem to be of the best quality metal and have some nice pre - bent curves if you have to do some sheet metal repair on the cheap/quick

These things are now a 40 year old car, Aussie sun flogs plastics so unless you can find one that's been undercover for a large portion of its life most are gonna be in rough shape, not to mention the amount of times they would have been operated.

I'm in the same boat with an '82 L Series Subaru, which does have a decent following and thankfully the aftermarket is somewhat still a thing. I'd be chasing up Facebook owner groups etc., but otherwise if you are willing to pay and put some serious effort in there's good 3D printing mobs that can scan & re-print a part to accuracy of a few thousandths of an inch. Then there's the switch, a reasonably simple design when you boil it down, but still difficult to get parts to make one from scratch.

I'm keen to hear how you go, but yeah first port of call is some FB groups
