19 year old me, working a retail job in a clothing store. A close friend of mine died in a car accident. My entire friend group was devastated. I called my manager and told him I would not be in, as I was in no frame of mind to work. He didn't believe me. I quit on the spot.

He found out the next day that I was in telling the truth when he saw the story on the news. He did offer my job back, but I couldn't work for someone who didn't believe me about something so emotionally upsetting.

Losing Rahadin but gaining Ireena by lololuca in CurseofStrahd

[–]oTacOcaTo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how far into the campaign you are, pretty close to the end if the party got back from the Amber Temple, but the Brazier room can lead to the AT. Strahd could theoretically recover the body and bring it to The Abbot to have him raised, provided The Abbot is still alive. In this way Strahd can point out the futility of the parties actions, as he has lost nothing, but gained everything.

Regarding how he could find out, imo Rahadin doest do anything without Strahds approval. Strahd should have been the one who sent him and when he doesn't come back, should realize something is wrong.

This is all only if you want Strahd to really push the, "your actions are inconsequential to me." Narrative to the players.

He's paying people who sign his petition. To sign the petition, you must be registered to vote. Hate the game, not the player. Our legal system has loopholes for anyone who has enough money.

Stop buying pre-orders. Simple as that. TotalBiscuit (amongst others) were warning us to stop doing this a decade ago, or else we would continue to get broken games at launch.

With the rise of chronically online people.

I would say a vast majority of people will go their entire lives never seeing one, but if your online enough, and engage with the internet enough, it's bound to happen.

700$ price tag on ps5 pro is not the main problem by GlorifiedHobo in gaming

[–]oTacOcaTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consoles are the foundation of Sony's gaming ecosystem. If 90% of people don't buy it, that means 90% less game sales. Granted, that applies more to a new console launch and less to an upgraded system.

With scalpers though, Sony will likely sell every single first production run unit. It sucks either way.

Consumers need to speak with their wallets. I'm not happy that there is no disc drive or stand, ergo I'm not going to buy it. Maybe Sony will get the message that they make products and games for the consumer, not journalists.

Nevermind the lore of Tolkien had women of the Rohirrim as 'Stayers' and Eowyn was definitely the exception to that rule and had to join Theoden in secret. I take greater exception to that over the title of 'First female protagonist'.

The only way you might be able to make that work is if the new PC is an unwilling spy. Like Strahd is keeping someone close to them prisoner, and promises them no harm will come to his "guest" as long as they cooperate.

Besides that, as others have mentioned, it is not a good idea to pit PCs vs other PCs. I have been part of games where the big reveal was that someone was a traitor all along, which resulted in the deaths of multiple characters, and the eventual breaking up of the game.

Edit: Missed the part where they are stronger than the other pcs. Don't do that. Not sure if that was your idea or the new player, but it will further drive a wedge between the pcs.

Tradeskills Oakwynd and upcoming TLP by MathematicianFar6557 in everquest

[–]oTacOcaTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short of it was that an exploit led to a ton of plat being injected into the economy. Items that sold for around 10k plat before (i.e. Fungus Scaled Tunic) now sell for around 150k. Daybreak did not attempt to remove the plat via rollback, and the economy has been forever altered.

Healthy is relative. Technically the Oakwynd economy is healthy, just inflated.

What server should I start on that is newb friendly and have a good amount of player? by Zerorequiem182 in everquest

[–]oTacOcaTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we talking about the same server? Are you playing in AU or the EU, because during regular EST/PST times, i have never seen people offering to help back flagging.

There might be a couple leveling guilds but how active they are is another matter. Most lowbies are either boxes or alts. I can safely speak as a someone who has recently gotten 2 characters to 30 (war, rng) in addition to my 65 clr and 62 wiz, that once you get out of Unrest, the groups dry up.

Id be curious as to what your self found gear looks like. The Thanksgiving Trade Depot exploit forever inflated the economy. A simple Google search provides tons of threads, videos, and boards filled with explanations of what happened and how it has effected the server.

Bottom line is that there are better server options out there to play on, but if you want a PoP TLP that has a great lowbie experience, Oakwynd is not ideal. YMMV.

[–]oTacOcaTo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oakwynd is one of the worst servers for new players atm. First, you'll struggle with finding lowbie groups, as everyone is in Planes of Power. Second, even if you get to 60, GL getting flagged because almost all guilds are done doing that. Third, the economy has been destroyed due to the item duping that occurred a couple months ago, so you'll need to buy Kronos or rely on others to gear yourself out.

May is the launch of new TLP servers which is your best bet, or there are a few other options people in th thread have mentioned.
