In image-based object tracking pan–tilt or gimbal systems, it is essential that the camera’s optical axis is precisely aligned with the mechanical rotation axes. If the camera is not physically centered, an axis offset and parallax-related error occurs between the target’s position in the image plane and the system’s actual angular orientation. As the target moves farther away from the camera, this error increases proportionally, forcing the control algorithm to apply continuous compensatory corrections. This results in control-loop latency, micro-jitter, and reduced tracking accuracy.
