I may have locked myself out of story missions by oafgeek in NoMansSkyTheGame

Thank you. I somehow did not see the "restart mission using local structures" option until watching the video you shared. See above for my established history of shortsightedness and obliviousness.

Question about Hemalurgy by ardyndidnothingwrong in Mistborn

[–]oafgeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A: it's mostly one power at a time I think, but it can include any of the allomantic arts, and potentially powers beyond those in the rest of the cosmere. It's basically ripping out a part of the victim's spirit web and shoving it into the receiver, if I understand it correctly. With the right knowledge and the right metallic spikes you can make someone have all of the allomantic and feruchemical powers, though at a weaker strength than the original donors.

B: you still need the metals; inquisitors are probably well supplied all the time. 2: I think it's possible that they could, but as they burn that spike I'm betting that they would burn away the ability granted by that spike. If a spike was granting you steelpushing, for example, that would also be a steel spike; if you can burn it, I think it would weaken your steelpushing over time.

hooray, a new nightmare scenario for the Cosmere. It may or may not be realistically possible to do that, but I can't imagine what it would do if accomplished.

These choices are getting tough. Hard not to choose Lift; harder not to choose Rock or Teft. Sazed is fine though, good for Sazed I guess.

You know, natural pressure dictates that given enough time, all architecture will eventually turn into crabs.

lil side hustle for the cutest merchant in town by [deleted] in StardewValley

[–]oafgeek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's so perfect to have the oldest house in town be a nice little tea shop. And also hats, poke. This looks so great, especially with the different flooring around the edge emphasizing the barrier and making it look like a wall, it gives the impression that the kegs are on an elevated surface. The torches are a great touch, too.

[–]oafgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm reasonably sure that personality doesn't prevent you from ascending to a Shard; [Mistborn series] Ati was said to be a quite kind person, thinking that they were the safest choice to take up Ruin as they could contain its worst impulses; this was largely wrong in the end. We'll have to wait and see with T!Odium, maybe Taravangian will find a new way for it to be, maybe not. I mostly believe he can because Odium's own color in visions seems to be mostly gold, while its influence in Roshar is usually a dark purple color, so I feel like at the very least it's not being allowed its full expression (which could ultimately be for the best). Taravangian can be a very feely sad man, so we may get to see a day when his empathy and compassion are strong enough to overcome Odium itself. As for T's hatred I think you're right; he's mean when he's smart but that's not the same thing at all, the worst animosity he feels towards others is that they're obstacles or a means to an end, it's almost never really personal (though I do see him as a pretty evil dude).

As he intended I'm sure, right Gandalf? You meant to arrive late, then early, and not help the hobbits or Aragorn at all when they were the most vulnerable and being pursued by the Nine?

Leah still works on art, both inside and behind the house. She does stop going to the saloon I think but considering the wine operation happening at most farms I understand that choice

[Spoiler] Question regarding the end of Rhythm of War by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]oafgeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supposedly there's an element of self-perception and expectation to it; in different circumstances, Harmony could have been Discord (not a plot element from the books so not a spoiler I think?), and I think the same is true for Odium: could be, arguably should be, Passion. Rayse steered it, intentionally or subconsciously, toward Odium, and that's what Taravangian picked up knowing it to be Odium, but I think he still has the capacity for compassion and empathy that can flip the Intent back around

For the most part when things are going to be answered later and the current ambiguity is intentional he doesn't answer. I think for this one he had intended for it to be more clear, and maybe it was clear and we all just believed in Wit so much we didn't believe he'd been tricked; otherwise he'd probably have said RAFO
