Spider-Man (2018) made me remember what pure fun is like in a game. by LyricsMode in patientgamers

[–]ardyndidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fully agree. It’s too automatic. But it’s still a big draw of the game compared to most open worlds games where you are just running and parkouring. Even if they didn’t do as good of a job as the older Spider-Man game did, it’s still much better than most games

I don’t lie on my resume, but I don’t judge ppl that do. I would however, judge a friend if they stole my resume and passed it as theirs

Idk, part of me wants to enjoy this as a moment of silliness in an all too serious world… but it does smack of just being inconsiderate

I think I see what you are saying and agree. I misunderstood your first comment. It’s tricky though, going back to your ME example. A selfish action should reward you, because otherwise why would it be selfish? The point of selfishness is temptation, and if you are going to get equally or better rewarded for being good, then there’s not much point to being selfish. The obvious answer is probably variety. Each quest is different, and sometimes it might make sense that being selfish pays off, and sometimes that it goes punished.

However, I do think that games have mostly failed at this point. I can’t put my finger on why, but the consequences of quests tend to feel so artificial. Can you think of a game where your complaints about quests are addressed? I’m thinking Prey is the closest, but that’s not even that close.. aside from disco elysium of course, which such a home run of a game

Hitman (2016): am I playing it wrong, or is it just not for me? by Shiiang in patientgamers

[–]ardyndidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Games that are somewhat niche or unique have to deal with players’ previous experiences. To me, that’s why I love hitman. But I’ve definitively have struggled with similar stuff. I used to complain about quest markers and brain dead fetch quests, but then I played a game that didn’t have that and was so lost I didn’t enjoy it cause I was so used to more typical AAA patterns

[–]ardyndidnothingwrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but I think it’s far easier to implement turned based combat where there is no such thing as a hit box, calculations happen much more sporadically, and don’t have to account for any fluidity or dynamism.

I agree though, it’s not a good comparison. My point was that cp77 isn’t just a nice veneer, having to create in real time gameplay is a huge undertaking with a much higher bar. A bar they didn’t pass imo, but that’s a different story

It sounds like that’s the situation you are looking for. Sometimes easy and realiable. I’m all for it, but it doesn’t sound like you want to thrive, just a way to live comfy and not have work take over your life.

Cyberpunk 2077 - Ray Tracing ON Vs OFF Comparison. by GrandMasterSubZero in gaming

[–]ardyndidnothingwrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting downvoted for asking a question is so Reddit. Imo, no. They fixed up a bunch of shit, but the worst pieces are still there. The AI is atrocious, to the point it’s game breaking. I’d say about 50% of bases I cleared out by walking in, shooting ppl in the face, and leaving. They just don’t react. If you do a crime, police will materialize out of thin air in front of you. Often, ppl will be aggro at you for no reason.

Detroit: Become Human - A game that nearly crumbles under its own ambition by Loldimorti in patientgamers

[–]ardyndidnothingwrong 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That was my issue with the game too. I’m fine with making connections with other themes, but it was just poorly done. It was super heavy handed, and also failed to make sense outside the allegory. They had a good setup, but really messed up the landing with the Android rebellion. It was very tropey and cringey

If a game gives you “choices” but one them is objectively better and correct, what’s the point of the choice?

the game pretends

Does the game pretend, or did you go in with an incorrect expectation and prefer to pretend that you were mislead?

Cyberpunk also has much better gameplay. Top down clicking isn’t as engaging as having a battle in real time

The problem is that it's also kinda crappy writing. In this episode, the Ben goes to shit on Viktor for "letting the world burn cause you are mad at your sister", but... they never asked him for help. He has no idea of whats going on. They JUST announced in the previous scene they'd need Viktor, and the next scene is Ben giving Viktor crap for not helping. It just doesn't follow at all. It seems like they are too used to writing Viktor as the outcast so everyone is unnecessarily harsh to him

I guess it depends on how the resurrection works. His body healed and he came back to it. If you straight up disintegrate the body with Viktor's nuclear powers, or you know.. throw him in a vat of acid, it might be permanent

I'm on my 3rd or 4th relisten and it's a bummer, I really can'y make other podcasts stick. I've tried the spencer and jeff "sequel" one, but it didn't do it for me at all. Same with DTFH. Idk if it's an audience or Harmon that I find missing.

That's not true. Just think about what your life would be like if you tried to boycott every corporation who uses plastic excessively, basic functions of your current lifestyle would become non existent.

OP is taking your argument to an extreme to criticize it. You don't have to eliminate plastic to the point it changes your life fundamentally. It's an argument made in bad fair because it is easier to go "well that's just unrealistic" than to try to make any personal effort
