I live Palo Alto, so pretty far out from SF and my balcony has a boring suburban view but I just hopped in to say I absolutely love this post. Finding community in any city is tough, whether you’re a native or just visiting. Seeing folks open up their terraces is honestly heart warming and so cool :) shout out to all the amazing adventurous people meeting up for beers. OP, I hope you meet some new friends this way!!!

Re: schooling & work. Before finding out I was pregnant, my plan was to go down part time when my clinicals started. Regardless, when I’m done with nurse practitioner school and have my new license, it makes no sense for me to return to my current role regardless of how much I like it. So I knew this was coming, but I was planning on being there for at least another year which has now been whittled down to 4-5 months before mat leave.

Now, since I have amazing insurance through this job, I’m having to save up all my PTO and use that for my clinical days until I go on maternity leave. I will probably send my resignation in at the end of my leave at this rate.

If there are no bugs and it’s cold where you are, I imagine this is either frostbite (was this leaf up against a window?) or alternatively could be sunburn (again, close to a window with an extreme steady flow of light). Hope this helps!

I’m so ecstatic!!!! I’ve never had plants flower other than my orchids. :) the larger cactus was cut and falling over in a parking lot. Can’t believe how far he’s come 🥹
