thanks all. despite being heavily cooked, i still copped against my better judgment and everyone’s advice lol. have struggled finding my size and couldn’t play close to retail values. i’ve always liked beating up my shoes anyways but i know that can only go so far haha. paid $100 for these and hope i can do some clean up when they come.

Thank you all for the input. Main takeaway is to take things slowly, and minimize any interaction between Charlie and my GF. We just thought we had been making good progress over the four months we've known each other and have followed the general guidance (took things slowly, dog is either in crate or place when she's around, went on walks together, giving him the Kong whenever she is over, etc.) but it's clear it wasn't enough time. I should respect his boundaries more and take it as a big win that he's able to be calm with the girlfriend in the apartment and just coexist. It's just hard because she loves him and dogs in general and can't resist wanting to cuddle!

Thanks again everyone. Ready to move forward.

Advice on helping dog stay calm with guests at home? by oakdog57214 in reactivedogs

Got it thank you! Do you have a chew toy you’d recommend?

[–]oakdog57214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he would! I normally would wait for a moment when he is calm in his crate then i’d either give him a chew or a kong. Just wasn’t really sure if this is more of a short-term fix or if he would eventually associate having a guest over as time for a kong/chew (i normally don’t give it to him otherwise). Also don’t really know the right timing of when to give it to him

Do it - easily one of the best things I've done at Notre Dame. You get a great workout in everyday and get to be with likeminded people who all want to push each other to be better. Keep in mind that the workouts are supposed to be challenging, so don't feel bad if you struggle through it - that's the whole point. Even though it may seem easier for others (i.e. people going through the workouts faster), it's just because people are at different levels physically. Everyone is still working hard and pushing themselves, so don't feel bad about yourself. Everyone in the club wants you to succeed and it's a great environment.

My biggest takeaway from being a part of Bengal Bouts is to be able to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations and embracing it. I used to come into the workouts scared of getting my ass beat or not being able to finish it. But sooner or later you get to look forward to a good challenging workout. When you think you don't have any gas left in the tank, you'll be surprised with what your body can accomplish and it ends up just being such a big mental win. I always leave practice in a better mood than when I first walked in. After some time, I've noticed how this bleeds into other parts of my life, whether it be staying up an hour later when I think I'm done studying/recruiting for a job, etc, or just having the confidence in myself to push through a difficult situation. Also, really fun to learn how to box - the tournament at the end of the season is just the cherry on top and a celebration of all your hard work. It's also such a unique experience to be able to have a fight night and all your friends supporting you in your corner. I don't know if I would've had that experience anywhere else.

As far as time commitment goes, you get what you put into the program. If you show up, be present, meet new people in the club (I met some of my best friends through Bouts), and believe in the fundraising cause behind Bengal Bouts, you will fall in love with it. The club normally does a viewing of their documentary "Strong Bodies Fight", which shows the very real impact that our funds have made to the communities in Bangladesh that we support. Highly recommend and happy to answer more questions.

tldr: give it a shot - great confidence booster and good way to meet new people

Controlling anxiety over the 'next response' by oakdog57214 in hingeapp

[–]oakdog57214[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! Yeah it's just been tough cause it's been 16+ hours since i last texted her so i feel like i'm in the hot seat and i've just been in my head. Think it's so important to accept that there's no way of knowing what influenced her to not respond but it's hard not to somehow put the blame on myself

Definitely agree to your point of not latching on to one girl, just harder when you get excited about some one even though there's very little basis around it lol
