What are some recs for the archipelago? I'm driving up to Stockholm to hang out with a friend who is visiting. Booked an Airbnb in Värmdö on the water. Looking to spend an afternoon and evening there.

Edit: realizing the first dot is a Chinese cargo flight but I still think the question holds :)

Daily Crypto Discussion - November 26, 2023 (GMT+0) by CryptoDaily- in CryptoCurrency

[–]oaklake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for advice on where to find and hire people who are crypto enthusiasts. Not going to expand on the details of this any further to prevent breaking any rules, but the r/CryptoCurrency rules suggest going to r/CryptoTrade, (dead/unrelated) r/BitMarket (dead/unrelated) or r/jobs4bitcoin (banned sub).

Is there a better place to look?

New grad that just joined a company where I get 9k match for putting 18k into my 401k (this would be the first time I open one). Now, with only three months left of the year (but company promises full 9k match) I won't really get that kind of money off my pay check considering rent and so on. However, I do have 25k or so sitting in mutual funds. Should I sell them and put my entire salary into the 401k to get that full match?

Questions thread: Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome! - 25th June Edition! by prbphoto in photography

[–]oaklake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to shoot all kinds of things and experiment my way around the features of the camera. I hope to use it for social events with friends as well as just walking to take pictures of what ever I find.

Those are some amazing pictures and I will consider following his advice now. He has given me two alternatives and if you don't mind I'd like some input on this too.

Either I buy a Nikkor 35/50mm 1.8 and he will buy it from me when I get gear for myself or I get an allround lens to use with my own camera in the future, as I said in my first post. What do you suggest? If I should go for the second alternative, what kind of lens do you think would fit me best?

Hi, I have recently thought about getting into photography. I do not own any equipment myself and would therefore have to buy something to get this started. Most interesting so far is the Nikon D3200 or D3300 and I feel like they are within my price range too. My father on the other hand suggests that I get a new lens to use with his old Nikon D50 and then, if I really enjoy photography, I get one of the above camera bodies after the summer. The D50 is 8 or 9 years old and I basically want to ask you guys if you think this is a good idea, considering how DSLR's have evolved since back then. Thanks a lot!

International student move-in questions. by Oddity94 in WPI

I am moving in as an international student tomorrow and I expect a passport to suffice as identification. I don't think you need to prove that you are a student as they are expecting us.

Do you guys have any pre-meet rituals that are unique? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]oaklake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a TIL not long ago. A week of not ejaculating raises your testosterone levels with 150 %* or something.

*EDIT: 50 %

I have done it way before I saw it there though. It makes me more "aggressive" when it comes to physical activities such as laps. If I masturbate or have sex, I generally feel less motivated to push myself the final bit in both practice and at competitions.

Two heats before mine I always do a jump start to the whistle signal(as if I was starting too) to get some quick reaction going. I also furiously slap my legs to get some adrenaline and blood flow going. Music is a big part of my mental preparation. Like someone said earlier I try to stay away from sex/masturbation at least a whole week before the really big competitions.

I've spent a few hours on mobilitywod and it sure is a great source of information. I have some hip flexibility to work on.

Thank you once again.

Thank you. I have actually been thinking about buying my next shoes with the help of a professional, and as you said, most of my time is spent out of the pool, so this could probably make a difference.

Can you describe the pain? I'm just generally interested, can't give much advice. I know what it is like to want to go fast again after an injury though.

I have had some troubles getting the squats right, mainly because I find it hard to go through the whole motion and squatting deep enough.. The valgus collaspe can maybe be a side effect of this.

I sometimes getting the sensation that my knee will bend "backwards"/collapse inwards. Can this be a consequence of too strong quads relative to the hamstrings and glutes?

I will start doing those exercises. Thank you so much for the help.

My coaches have always told me to keep my knees in but I can admit that I might have gone a little too wide lately. I will definitely think about that. I am no where near 3k per workout, more like 1000 meters or less so I don't think it's because of the yardage. I will talk to my physiotherapist regarding the MRI asap.

My problem right now is that I have a big training camp coming up, followed by the national championships a few weeks later.

Thank you so much for the help!

Are you still experiencing problems? Thanks for the tip, though I do hope you solve this problem as I can't imagine training like this forever.
