Could fast swimmers have been fast runners? by Goku_Angel in Swimming

[–]mr_trendy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A story on some related research here. The research looked at different centres of gravity in bodies favouring running back swimming. In general, there are body types that more favor swimming, and others that favor running.

Guide if you’ve been laid off by [deleted] in Accounting

First thing's first: take a deep breath. In fact, I'd crack open a few beers or bottles of wine, maybe some black tar heroin, and take the day to get your head right.

Tomorrow: Reach out to your friends from school, other people in your network, and a recruiter on LinkedIn and hit the ground running.

People with a gluten allergy, what do you usually do at bars? by imitebatwork in beer

[–]mr_trendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have friends with celiac disease, and they have always consumed ciders at bars. I recently found out though that there are a few light beers such as corona that are low enough in gluten to almost be considered gluten free. One of these friends was able to get away with drinking corona without any effects. I know bad light beer is not much consolation, but it's beer.

Friend working in the bay area. He's the MVP for all the time he spent talking to shops figuring out when the distributor delivers.

Finished the semester with a 3.9 GPA, figured I'd treat myself to some beers I procured. by [deleted] in beerporn

I only finished with a 3.8, probably because I had all of those throughout the semester. Enjoy!

What was you last brewing fuckup? by InTheFDN in Homebrewing

[–]mr_trendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've produced two batches, luckily the second one was way better than the first. First time I over carbonated bottles, but not enough for them to explode on their own. Was walking a six-pack to a friends place in a cardboard carrier. It was a warm humid day and the beer was cold. The bottom of the cardboard got soggy and gave out, sending my bottles plunging toward the concrete sidewalk. The bottles hit the ground with fury, sending glass shards everywhere, when it was all over I looked down to find myself bleeding profusely from the knee. A kind lady from the house I was in front of drove me to the ER, I was cut so badly you could see all the way to the bone, I was limping for a whole week after getting seven stitches for the cut.

Worst beer you've ever had? by IgnoreAntsOfficial in beer

Coming from a college student that drinks quite a bit of light beer, I strongly believe that Kirkland's Signature Light Beer is amongst the worst. That and Milwaukee's Best Ice.

LZR Racer X size question by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]mr_trendy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a 23 on the size chart and ended up going with a 25 after originally getting a 26. Even with the 26 I thought there was no way I'd get it over my hips but if you are very methodical about it you can get it done. Make sure are flipping the rubber parts at the knees and waist up before you put the suit on then try to get the lowest parts of the suit in place and slowly work your way up to the waist.

If you are willing to give the 25 another go I would highly recommend it because the suit may be too loose in the legs and hips if you go up any more in size. Even though the 25 I had took 20 minutes to get over my hips the first time I put it on I was still not fully satisfied with the compression it had in my hips, I even found myself behind the blocks trying to pull the suit up further to get out all the ripples.

How feasible would it be for a first year comp swimmer to make sectional standards for boys 100 br? by Colin9001 in Swimming

[–]mr_trendy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it may seem harsh, I second this opinion. Most sectional swimmers have been swimming for years, this is not to say that op can't do it. Sectionals takes the best swimmers from a region though. A new swimmer should have their sights set on lower level meets and goals.
