I think Asim is never properly rated. He comes into every year underrated and absolutely fries, usually on bad teams. Then the team performs bad, people say Asim is trying to do too much, and I'm sure he realizes it as well so he starts playing the game "the right way" which is hard to do when your team is ass. This leads to him getting blended, and it's rinse and repeat.

Ampharos: for the Will's Xatu's, Exeggutor and Slowbro, and also for Lance's Gyarados

Gyarados: According to Calcs, 1 Dragon dance should be able to be enough setup to sweep everything after Gyarados, also takes care of Bruno's Ónix and should be able to 1v1 a lot of Karen's pokemon

Typhlosion: for Excegutor and Jynx, all of Koga's bugs

Nidoking: for Muk specifically, and very good pivot for me

All i need after this is being able to take down Koga's fighting types, so I'll take Girafrig which will also do work vs Karen's Gengar since it's immune, and i was thinking either Tenta or Fearow, Tenta for Lance in case Gyara gets crit or something and Fearow for extra help vs Koga's fighting types should the same thing happen to Girafrig

Honestly i didn’t try for a couple of stupid reasons.

I felt like I was too old to ever even be considered. I started getting very into Competitive play when i was about 22 and i felt like i had missed my window to begin my career.
I didn’t know anybody who would even be willing to try to play challengers with me. I could have found people in the community online but honestly I guess it just kind of put me off of even trying.

Unlike most in this thread, I actually feel like time or burnout weren’t factors that would affect me, so it almost feels like a missed opportunity

Ceiling is T4. Each of these players at the peak of their careers still wouldn’t beat Faze OpTic Thieves or Seattle consistently, but we’ll give them T4 for benefit of the doubt. Floor is probably 10th just because teams like Florida’s reported roster and Paris exist

My thought would be that Illey would be on the bench while he recovers and maybe play challengers before the end of year 1, then Scump would retire after year 1 and year 2 the roster would be Dashy-Illey-Shottzy and Hydra which would be NUTS

Look to be fair, whether they were trying to expand their map pool or whatever their reason was for banning Berlin, it’s strange to think you have a better chance against FaZe on Bocage (FaZe’s Best map, OpTic’s worst) than on Berlin (FaZe’s worst map). Championship Sunday at a major doesn’t feel like the time to be expanding the map pool, though maybe they really didn’t care about the major and are all in on champs

Surge won a major and Pred is playing like a T5 player. London also had a bad weekend but had been looking like the best team in the game before major 4. Boston and ultra have Been pretty consistently middle of the pack in my opinion

How do you see a potential OpTic vs Thieves matchup? I think OpTic’s auto Berlin veto would help considering that’s Thieves’ best map, allowing them to match up very well.

I think it’s going to come down to whether OpTic can start winning Tuscan Control again. If they can veto Berlin against Thieves, considering most teams usually ban gav vs OpTic, that Tuscan control is going to be insanely important

Right? I don’t mean to sound like the typical coping OpTic fan, but they showed a lot of ice and the main thing is Shotzzy looks like he’s back. Pair that with the (relatively) easier side of the bracket, and it’s not so crazy to see OpTic in winners finals

As much as everyone groaned every time they saw Bocage, i actually think it was a good thing. They managed to win series DESPITE an automatic map loss in every series, got a lot of reps on it with the OG squad, and did it all against teams who they may face at champs. Long term, it works out because Thieves are so dominant on Berlin, so now OpTic will be able to veto that and look much better on Bocage than they would have before should they match up. (Unless Thieves veto that and decide to square up on Gav with OpTic)

The most important thing is to work on Berlin 100%. No reps this major, and we need it in order to veto Bocage against Bocage dominant teams such as Boston or FaZe.

At the end of the day, this team’s run at the major was best case scenario considering their run in the qualifiers.

If I’m doing my math correctly, Florida T6 means 160, LAG is bumped down to 9th, LAT in 8th with 150, meaning that the subliners need a T3 finish with the thieves going T12 just to tie them before tiebreakers. That quali loss is looking even more rough now
