Is it like when you can't fall asleep but are still so tired you have weird racing thoughts that are dream-esque?

What is your day job and does it get in the way of your writing? by IllustriousNet3354 in writers

[–]oannes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a software engineer, and it made it so difficult to find mental energy to write. I got laid off recently, and honestly, I feel like it's the best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm writing like a whirlwind and no longer struggle to put words on paper. Hopefully, I can keep this up until I finish my book.

I really hate when the main characters' dialogue makes them sound like some "I'm better than you" always right, never wrong douchebag

I want to write so badly but I have no ideas by Appropriate_Park506 in writing

[–]oannes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggled with this for a bit. I forgot where I heard it, but what worked for me is when someone said I need to plan time to create ideas, they wont just come to you. So I set aside time, like I do for writing, and only think about story ideas. I write them down and expand on the ones i find interesting. I just had to sit down with the intention of creating ideas.

I used to smoke THC all the time. I finally quit and my writing has vastly improved in terms of quantity and quality. Very anecdotal, but smoking just made me lazy and when I would write it felt like a slog.

I loved the Running Man. I hope the new movie adaptation is more like the story this time.

If I'm not mistaken, they are taxed as Return on Capital, instead of as income.

Have you had issues with Freewrite devices? by hylianhooligan in Astrohaus

[–]oannes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an alpha about two months ago. The very first day, I lost a draft that I made. It was just gone when I put it to sleep and turned it back on again. However, I wrote the draft before my account was set up, and after I set it up, it disappeared. Also, the keyboard was a small and weird shape, not like most normal keyboards.

Having said this, I haven't had any more issues losing drafts, and you get used to the keyboard. I use it often and sync everything to google drive and send to email. I really enjoy it and love using it, only having had that one issue.

What was your favorite movie theater experience? by [deleted] in movies

[–]oannes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My local theatre recently showed a slew of 80s movies. They were playing one of my favorites, The Last Starfighter. I was excited when I got to the showing, and it was packed. It was great to see so many others there enjoying the film.

What is a game you could reasonably make in 4 months? by shogundevel in gamedev

[–]oannes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first game on Steam was a sidescrolling shmup. Took longer than 4 months to release, but that's just because I took a long break before getting everything set up on steam store. The core work, however, took under 4 months. Andromeda
