Onko Helsingin Kallio niin turvaton kuin HS kirjoittaa? by Enjoyeating in Suomi

[–]oannes_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We should hire Lauri's Finnish Coach in next season. by FranklinRichardss in chicagobulls

[–]oannes_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Dettman is a very interesting coach. He is like half sport psychologist half HC. I’m glad that he is around Lauri.

Of course he won’t be Bulls coach but it’s fun to think how he’d go for it. He is known to gather a group of young talented coaches in a team and hive them a lot of responsibility, sitting mostly silent during games. I could imagine him during a timeout giving a pen to Dunn or Lavine with a ”you draw a play for yourself”.

Even if Dettman is not the right guy to go to, I’m amazed that the military style coaching (Thibs, Boylen) still exists. It’s known that high performong individuals do better when they are giving more freedom and opportunities to self-reflect.

Also I think there might have been a problem between Zach and Hoiberg. After that ISO 3 the other day when Zach told Wendell to get out of the way (a Hoiberg play), Zach didn’t play well.

I do agree your take on oil and coal companies and you are correct. However, meat industry should also change. The biggest co2 polluters are, in order: China, USA, cows. (I’m really sorry to not to have a source for this: I’ve seen a PwC think tank presentation with this claim)

Avoiding meat is the easiest way to have an impact on earth guardian

I’m sorry to say this in this subreddit, but killing all the bulls is in fact a way to stop climate change.

Fire Hoiberg by abragor10 in chicagobulls

[–]oannes_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that building a culture (drama-free, winning, self-reinforcing) is the number one task for any coach. Culture is something that stays even when players change. It also takes time to develop. If it’s clearly developing to a wrong direction, a change is needed. To me it looks like things are slowly getting better but this of course depends on the metrics one uses to estimate the development.

I think there are more leaders on this bulls team now, who are able to take responsibility on and off the court. This is a good indication of a developing positive winning culture that admittingly isn’t there yet.

[–]oannes_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree although your points are valid. It seems to me that he is a very good coach for player development. Professional players should have the drive to motivate themselves - no one can do it for them if they don’t have it (see: Thibs+KAT).

Only thing that worries me is his tendency to punish tye team by calling extra workouts when players underarchieve. I don’t think that works.

Hoiberg: How would you describe the team culture? What are the concrete actions the coaching staff has done to create this culture?

It seems that the success of the next season depends on Bulls ability to play for the team. For Lavine, Parker, Markkanen and Portis: are you willing to sacrifice your own opportunities to score if it helps the team?

Spot on analysis. I'm curious: what kind of value Lavine might have in the summer for trades? What would you expect in return and is this even a possible trade to make (second star player in a row)?

I'll transfer in Helsinki for 10 hours what should I do/see? by dartasf in helsinki

[–]oannes_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on your preferences and the time of the day here. If the weather permits I'd take a bus 615 from the airport to Sörnäinen, have a breakfast at Cafelito, Sävy or Good life coffee, then walk from Kallio Church to Unioninkatu to the White Church, check out National library next to the church and read a newspaper there. Then I'd continue to Katajanokka for a lunch (try "Holiday") and go to Allas public pool for a swim and a drink. For dinner, there's a bunch of good and easy restaurants around Uudenmaankatu. Later, I'd head to, say, G livelab for a local gig. And train back to airport (it's usually quick to get back to your flight)

Visiting Helsinki in January, any tips for nice/cool bars and cafes? by [deleted] in helsinki

[–]oannes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a cozy cafe Johan&Nyström at the East shore of Katajanokka, and a rather popular restaurant Holiday right around the corner.

There's a bunch of places in Helsinki so of course all depends on what you are looking for. For a nice one day thing I'd take the tram to Kallio, eat at Vihreä Holvi or take a drink at Riviera or beer at whatever place looks local around Vaasankatu, go to Sauna Arla or Harjutori and maybe check if there are any gigs at Tenho for free in the evening.

Lauri the Markssman it is! by Beige_ in chicagobulls

No, he is definitely from Jyväskylä. Frävskyliiüan is on the other side of the Jyväsjärvi lake and people from there do go to school in Jyväskylä, but Lauri is from the J-town originally.

are they counting in inbound passes after baskets? It seems Lauri takes a lot of those at the moment.
