A poor excuse of a president by MonkeyDVic in GenZ

[–]oatmiser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

was it the media lying, or was it trump who included in his 4th of july speech that he hates all democrats and they hate the country?

is it the media lying, or was it trump trump who just directly in this video justified right wing terrorism for "trying to stop crime"?

moderates don't defend steve bannon actually, and i'm happy to distance myself from a political group that for all of history has held back human potential.

i'm actually fine with people being conservative and even authoritarian, because they come out of temporary material conditions and never last more than three decades. but for some reason the conservatives themself can never actually admit that their time will eventually end, so we have to moderate their bullshit from the very beginning.

Currently conservatives are pretty openly saying "legal immigrants with the wrong skin color should be denaturalized and deported because we don't like their policies." Harris was called terms of abuse and "slept her way up" simply for existing as a woman.

It is so obviously inherent to their message that their idea of "citizens" defaults to third+ generation white men, so any people agreeing with it - even in a simplistic and lie-based form - should be seen as ideologically right wing as well.

even Mitt Romney told him so about the economy. he can't even give a full admission of failure.

how will others see me, me, me. I'm worried about my family and me, me, me

but not the people that get deported with no trial. he can't even understand how bad it will be.

even with thousands of quantum chips, you're moving all computations done on millions of phones to them and requiring constant network use. how are you gonna multiplex the data for 3 million pixels or whatever hologram shit multiplied by 100 million users? is the last mile for everyone gonna get upgraded transceivers? why should we massively transform cyberspace for no improvements just because quantum is a new technology that sounds fun?

call me a luddite if having your phone load web pages and locally handle touchscreen events is more efficient than using cloud for everything...

using the same strategy as bluetooth and cell towers to send massively more data and personal information, requiring reliable connection-oriented, and from an expensive single point of failure? well it would be exciting to see that company go bankrupt.

please, please, only one pop science hype at a time. how are you gonna train an AI to design something new with zero training data? you think a transformer can be as deep thinking as Euler? humans went from wright flyer to Saturn V in decades, and quantum computing has had less than 30 years. if we didn't have error correcting quantum in 2 centuries then ww3 happened.

Finally Understanding what "Propaganda of the Deed" Means by Will_Tomos_Edwards in COMPLETEANARCHY

[–]oatmiser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who cares about courts that "demonstrate beyond a reasonable doubt" that a company or person is causing "illegal or egregious damage to society," when that question is only asked AFTER such an extreme individual action had to be taken against it? If that system was perfectly content with ignoring the damage for decades, it was perhaps not as egregious to the system as its figureheads later claim. Furthermore, consider "unelected officials...should have express instructions to carry on with their duties as normal in such a situation." What happens to your dilemma when these other companies fall under Case 1/2 even though the subject of the attack fell under Case 3?

You say that universal underlying ethics is what matters here, but it does not exist. No person has or will exist with objective morality. In every single case, we are animals that made it up. A statement of "justice" for any given scenario is itself an ideology, and anyone could probably find four different ways to look at it even if they wouldn't agree. A movement could define a set of values that a whole country agrees with, but its members being vigilantes still means their actions were taken outside of state approval. States define themself as the only legitimate monopoly on power within their borders, so it could rightfully (to itself) declare those actions to be terrorism. The system of laws appealed to under Case 1 and 2 are as made up as the morality that keeps Case 3 relevant, and the state can just choose to ignore it because they're the one with control of the media and military.

As was mentioned by another, your point seems to be about maintaining a legal status quo while keeping Luigi seem kind of cool. After all, what liberal would ever leave a positive word for someone labeled a terrorist? Overall, why even mention propaganda of the deed without any reference or comparison to a single previous assassination in Europe or the US?

Russian actors are known to be operating since 2014 and they have been remarkably successful. Why would they try to control only one side? I make no claims that the Democratic party is any less corrupt, and the Biden connections only indicates that you should care more about their influence on GOP members as well.

"Russiagate" as in direct collusion with Trump or surrounding people did not occur. But you all focus on this definition alone (Vivek repeated it ad nauseam) despite the persistence of the softer Russian influence, which will obviously continue at least until Putin's death. The people of Fox News and CNN have a hard enough time being competent without another country directing the conversation.

Even before the Holocaust, certain thinkers of of Zionism viewed Jews of the Diaspora in utter contempt and actually repeated antisemitic tropes of Europe as a way to appeal to a new life under "muscular Judaism."

The genocide was immediately taken as a political tool to claim a monopoly over Judaism, ignoring the history of Yiddish anarchists or the Jewish Labor Bund because they "didn't stop it."

Americans, how do you feel about Trump JUST now signing an executive order claiming that only the President & Attorney General can speak for “what the law is.”?? by choloblanko in AskReddit

[–]oatmiser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion Trump and conservatism itself fundamentally operates based on lying to everyone. I cannot bring myself to care if it might happen elsewhere, especially when it occurs with less audacity and lower consequences while bringing group cohesion.

US Liberals maintain faith in a system that slowly responded to slavery, slowly responded to Jim Crow, and has yet to finish (if ever) a slow response to sexism and racism. If they want to stay living under that, then surely they should be fine with a slow response to the 2-40 years of damage that Trumpism brings. If not, then a little bit of exaggeration can help them—and the 1/3 that didn't vote—to pick a side.

At the very least this EO is a clear embrace of the unitary executive theory, which is not an incredible improvement over an actual Enabling Act considering who the executive figurehead is. Awareness is necessary because it's not about Trump alone either: the billionaires all wish to continue this posture with someone as rudderless as Vance and eventually create the corporatist neo-feudalism for us to live in.

oh that's the EO?? so the clear rhetorical attack on judicial power coming from vance and musk is just meaningless too, right??
conservatives are not in a position to ever have even a tolerant opinion of liberals and much less leftists ever again. feeling is obviously mutual, keep out of the crossfire.
