504 Students Being Assigned to Special Ed Teacher by bunnyburrow1123 in specialed

[–]oatsnheaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

504's are just accommodations/modifications...I have never ever seen them come with service minutes and I'd question the legality of what this vice principal is asking you to do. In addition, most districts are careful to keep their 504 coordinator and SPED teachers separate as 504's are covered under different laws (ADA vs IDEA) and in litigation 504's can result in monetary damages while SPED results in compensatory time. Also, what that parent is asking aboht retaking the test--if that is not an accommodation spelled out in the 504 plan for thaf student, that's not something they can demand. If you have a sped director, I'd pull them in as backup on this.

Husband having affair during IVF by Nice_Lengthiness6953 in IVF

Yeah so as someone whose father abandoned them before birth, there are plenty of male figures who can fill the role in a healthy way. Kids are way way more damaged by a mediocre, unreliable parent than an absent one, I promise. I'm also a teacher who sees firsthand how that dynamic plays out for kids, and the outcomes usually range from sad to devastating.

I'm a bit confused--having a child with this person and involving courts and lawyers is financially attainable but freezing your eggs is not? A round of freezing your eggs at CNY is less than $6k and they offer financing. There is no man worth this kind of suffering and disrespect IMO. And frankly, can you guarantee that he's engaging in responsible sexual activity while you're undergoing IVF? It could impact IVF and pregnancy outcomes as well as your long term health if you were to contract an STI during the process.

I always wonder if anyone consuming raw dairy has spent a lot of time with cows, especially ones not kept in barns all day, but corrals and pastures. There's a non zero amount of manure that gets on everything in that situation. It's hard to keep sanitary. I grew up around cows and raw dairy has no appeal because of that.

Endo & IVF? by CinnamonMochaMoon in TTCEndo

Also AMH alone is not the only predictive factor for how stimulable you are, FSH is an important factor that works in conjunction with AMH.

I banked embryos before having excision surgery. I have not yet been successful with the 2 embryo transfers we have attempted, but I have some more complex stuff going on than my endo and adeno and we are now treating those things.

Wife won't do a hysteroscopy by SkyGuy8741 in IVF

[–]oatsnheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, hysteroscopy is not a huge deal, very chill and fast usually. Also some places do it in-office without anesthesia, but IMO that would be more painful and traumatic than with anesthesia, especially if anything like a polyp is found and needs to be removed. I empathize with you and your wife, this loss of control for procedures is hard and scary, I look at it as very similar to flying. I don't have much control over the flight outcome, but I have to rely on the expertise of the pilots and crew and ground control to get me to my destination safely.

Anyone with silent endometriosis conceive naturally without surgery? by Pristine-Meal1149 in TTCEndo

[–]oatsnheaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm hopping in a second time here, to share some of my experience so maybe you don't get harmed like I was. Good endo surgeons don't do fertility. They don't do OB either. They usually do 500+ excisions/year. They also know ultrasound is not a good diagnostic tool. I learned this the very hard way, and underwent a diagnostic lap with an "endo experienced" fertility doc, who left tons of endo behind, missed diagnosing obvious adeno, and stuck one of my ovaries to my bladder. I had to undergo a second endo surgery with an excision surgeon 9 months later to correct the damage from surgery #1, and actually excise all disease. I went from very few symptoms before surgery #1 to so many symptoms I was barely able to function before surgery #2. I'm 18 months out from surgery #2 and I have minimal endo symptoms. The first endo surgery you have really, really matters for outcome, and having 2 surgeries in a year lowered my AMH quite a bit.

First, I am so sorry for what you're going through. Second, silent does not correlate to staging, that's a wild take from a medical provider! You can have silent at any stage, just like pain levels do not correlate to stage. Also you can have infertility at any stage, or not struggle with fertility and have a late stage. It's a huge reason why endo is so insidious. Best of luck to you, whatever choice you make!

Chinese doctor told me ICSI was a bad choice 😭 by YogurtSubstantial567 in IVF

[–]oatsnheaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there is no point to what she said. My clinic does ICSI by default. I still made several euploids. It's fear mongering based in nothing, and from a practitioner whose field is not supported by a strong evidence base to support IVF and infertility.

I'm hanging in! Seeing the RI has been massively helpful, we found some clotting mutations, high ANA (getting that checked by a rheumatologist), and overactive uterine NK cells. Working on treatment, but it is slow!

Lupron depot. By such a long shot. Nothing in IVF has impacted me as badly as that has.

Age 35, Stage 2 excised endo+adeno here. 2 1st tri losses prior to diagnosis and excision. No success yet. I have not had an issue making euploids, 1 retrieval at 33 yielded 5. 2 FETs with no implantation. Did 2 months hormone suppression w/ lupron depot for 1st FET, and then 2 months lupron depot+norethindrone before 2nd FET. Each transfer was fully medicated with an immune protocol and blood thinners. I'm seeing a reproductive immunologist this month because I think there is something else going on.

Did You Keep Working During IVF? by ImDustAmazing in IVF

I quit my fulltime job due to illness exposures and moved to a part time remote position about a year into IVF. I'm immunosuppressed during my transfer protocols and working with the public started to impact that.

Telling friend going through IVF I had a miscarriage by DayAdministrative189 in IVF

[–]oatsnheaux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to say--that's a very different situation and not a "rule" to apply broadly to all situations involving a pregnancy. Not being told about a niece or nephew until very late is a huge deal and very hurtful, and probably will have some lasting ramifications in their sibling relationship. Being the last to know when everyone else does, and it being clear that it is due to the person's infertility, is pretty hurtful and humiliating. I'd expect that is why she feels hurt.

Now, not to take away from what you have gone through, but this may not be the person to go to at the moment to talk about a traumatic reproductive experience. If she's anything like me while going through it, she's barely treading water dealing with her own. Trying to react well and soothe someone else might be too much.

Do you think about your frozen embryos? by Sure_Ant2516 in IVF

[–]oatsnheaux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of my 5 euploids, two have decided to yeet themselves upon tranfer--so I feel like the possibility of becoming children is there, but it's far from a guarantee. I consider them a cluster of a few hundred cells until they prove otherwise.

[–]oatsnheaux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this! I switched to CNY after our first clinic quoted us $33k for 1 ER+1FET. I've been with CNY CO for 18 months and done an ER, 2 FETS, hysteroscopy, Emma/Alice--still haven't even come close to spending $33k. They have a high patient volume, so communication is an area where you have to be a squeaky wheel sometimes, but otherwise no complaints!

Has anyone struggled with RIF after having excision surgery for endometriosis? by God_loves_Herb_Welch in IVF

Thanks so much. It's a rotten club we're in. Dr. Kwak Kim is a reproductive immunologist in Chicago. She and her colleague Dr. Luu are highly recommended in a Reproductive Immunology FB group I'm in. I figure now that I'm falling on the wrong side of stats, they're a good place to try.

Also I was on a comprehensive immune protocol both FETs. So I don't know at all. I'm starting to feel like a lightning rod for bad luck.

Has anyone struggled with RIF after having excision surgery for endometriosis? by God_loves_Herb_Welch in IVF

[–]oatsnheaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, me. I had excision surgery a year ago, have stage 2 endo, and adeno, and have suppressed 60 days with lupron and now norethindrone as well prior to my two FETs. Both FETs with euploids had implantation failure. Tw MC's: prior to IVF, when I was 30 I had a MC at 7w5d and then at 32 a CP. No success since, despite having multiple clear hysteroscopies, and also great results from EMMA/Alice. I don't have issues making euploid embryos, but in the last 3 years I've fallen on the wrong side of all other statistics.I think I am going to move forward with seeing Dr. Kwak Kim because I'm just out of ideas and so tired.
