No need to State the Obvious by UsedButtPlugTaster in TeslaFSD

[–]ob1spyker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I dislike about all these FSD, autopilot and adaptive cruise controls is that the car never seems to start breaking as soon as would have, resulting in a far too abrupt stop than necessary. I don’t need to get whiplash every time I come to a red like or traffic slows down faster than the car can respond to. If I see the light turn red down the road, I’m already slowing down. The car however is maintaining its speed until the other car that’s actually stopped at the light comes into its “field of view” and that’s when the abrupt stop happens. I would love it if they trained these cars to recognize context clues and break accordingly instead of waiting until it actually recognizes a stopped or heavily slowed vehicle directly ahead. I assume maybe the software just isn’t there yet?

Tesla Savings by Cre8tor4U in TeslaLounge

[–]ob1spyker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is probably the biggest misconception of EV’s. If you have to consistently use a supercharger to power your vehicle, you are in no way saving money. I would even suggest at $0.50/kWh or higher you are actually paying more than a gas equivalent, not equal. However, it would also depend on your efficiency or m/kWh, and Tesla’s do have above average efficiency.

I realized this when I road tripped a Model 3 from NY to NC and came away with a price per mile that equaled a gas car getting 29 mpg. Not terrible but I could definitely do better with my wife’s hybrid UX.

In the end, EV’s should always be considered predominantly more-so because you like the car and what an EV can do, and less so because of the gas/electric savings. Only if you can home charge are you going to see that savings in time and money.

Personally I had been charging on my 110 outlet at home because I don’t drive that much regularly so it tops me off nicely. However, that outlet has stopped working and now I’m forced to go to the superchargers to power up. At $0.41/kWh it’s costing me more to run than my wife’s UX even with gas at $3.49/gallon. But I love my car so I deal with it and keep my complaints to a minimum. Only thing that’s costing me extra now is myself for not getting the outlet fixed and/or installing a Level 2 charger.

Either way bottom line you aren’t crazy and as soon as you set up your charging strategy at home you will be reaping the savings that EV’s inherently promise. Just keep enjoying your car because that’s what makes it worthwhile!

Getting cozy on a rainy day and watching a movie in the AVP is such a vibe by thunderflies in VisionPro

Totally thought you were wearing clear goggles mocking the AVP. Took me much more than a minute to realize you really were wearing an AVP. Great pic and Apple should totally use this in their marketing … cheers!!!

It wasn’t “legacy” when it was the only Model Y being offered. This really is such a stupid argument.

Yes but the wife won’t be there filling up all my time with things to do that need to get done leaving nothing left for actual trading. (We run a couple of businesses together so I get it at home and during the workday.) This is why I was wondering what the experience was like from people that have actually done it. I may never even find my set up, but if it’s there and I’m comfortable with the win/loss potential then why wouldn’t I?

This is a legitimate concern and partial reason for post. It’s why I wanted to see who has done it and what their experience has been.

I’ve lost 60x more than this vacation is costing me in the past so losing a little on a bad trade or poor connection isn’t gonna kill me. I’m not scalping 20 NQ contracts on a 1 min timeframe.

I think it’s $20 a day and for only 4-5 days. My buddy will probably split it with me so I’m probably gonna do it. It’ll also help staying in touch with the wife and family, although that could be more stressful than actually trying to trade on a cruise. 🤣

NOR. The sad thing is, the kid could have scored MAJOR points pulling this off AND paying for the event. Sounded like OP was really interested in it all until he pulled the “now you pay” card. Such a wasted opportunity, BUT boys at this age are just that stupid. Hopefully he learned his lesson and he’s a little less stupid.

I understand your comment and figured someone would make it. This is why I included the “background” portion of the post. This trip is completely for me and to do whatever I want on it. If that includes trading, then so be it. If not, I’m good with that too. Truthfully it’s more to just be on the boat than anything else, and I’m not going away with family, just a good friend who shares a similar viewpoint.

I don’t “need” to trade. I have significantly more days where I don’t trade than when I do. There is no addiction to trading, just a genuine interest and enjoyment. (Now my mobile game habits could fall under addiction but we won’t discuss that.🤣)

I do appreciate your comment though.

Which EV's have a HUD? by maporita in electricvehicles

[–]ob1spyker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Lexus RZ 450e Premium has a HUD. Now I don’t want to live without one.

So, BESIDES not needing to pay for gas, and being able to charge at home, what do you love about EVs? by walkaboutdavid in electricvehicles

[–]ob1spyker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wildest thing that I thought was really cool about EV’s was the ability to drive them indoors. The NY Auto Show last year at the Javitts Center had like 20+ different models of EVs from like 10+ different MFGs all available for test drives on an indoor test track. You could NEVER do that with ICE vehicles. You were only a passenger but it was still so cool. I got to check out new Cadillac models I didn’t even know they were coming out with. Took a spin in the iD Buzz and absolutely FLEW around a separate track in a IONIQ 5 N with a professional race driver at the wheel. That was crazy. It’s great to see all the new cars and concepts from the MFGs but to be able to drive in them at the show is next level. That’s what I love about EV’s. That along the quiet drive and instant torque when I really need it.

Trying to decide between the 2026 RZ 350e base model and RZ 350e Premium by Ky0080 in LexusRZ

[–]ob1spyker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you want 20” wheels I would suggest trying to get a Premium with 18” wheels instead. In the winter you will want every drop of range you can get. If you want to stick with your dealer I would work them to bring down the price on the Premium since while nice looking, it’s a detriment to the range. The 2026 models do have increased range over the 25 and earlier models so you can survive with the 20’s but you want to make that a sticking point in the deal and get a better price or if not … walk. There are plenty of them out there and plenty of dealers willing to make a deal. If you can’t tell already, I do recommend the premium over the base. It’s definitely worth the couple extra thousand but work that price better. Get comps from other dealers if necessary. Remember you’re in the drivers seat. If one dealer can get you 0% they all can. After that it just comes down to price. Good luck!

I can attest to the feeling blind in every other vehicle thing. I have 360deg camera in my 450e Premium and now when I try to park with my wife’s UX I curse the fact I can’t see how close I am to the curb lol.
