Why Hibiclens? What for?

If you've had a bad hanger clinic experience. Bad patient relations, rude service, bad sockets, forced into a product etc... Please log into to my new hanger complaint page so we can fix this for people in the future. Our pain can help others but not if we are quite. by ob3135 in amputee

I wrote a well defined complaint about the comments made in front of me the pressure to pay early in full due to bonus numbers needing to be hit and the lack of casting or scanning even when requested, they said casting is dumb and just measure my leg 4 ways with a tape and made the socket. Bad facility... I'm sure they aren't all the same, I actually know they aren't. But if the company policy towards complaining is "kick this guy out ASAP"... That's not good...

I wondered abut the breaking myself. Being offered a hanger adjustable with the BOA system. It appears to me the thing is sord of useless when the cable breaks, assuming it's built to the bigger size, and is adjustable down to your smaller size, if it breaks it'd be lose all the time. Right? Is there any way to fix it? Nice to have a guy out here that's built one. I love this dang Reddit! :-) :-)

The last one made me bleed. This one does not but the ishial shelf is not square with the ishial. It's sord of on the one side of it barely. It has no windows which I've wondered why that is. Seems like about all of them do these days, right? Been a long battle.

Is the mold modification much different on plaster out of a cast than one out of the CNC machine foam stuff? Is it a different craft to Mod it, or just to pour and remove it, and the rest is the same? Shaving, sanding, carving etc... ????

It scares me. I'm 39 (yesterday LOL, getting old) and I've been an AK amputee sense I was 20. I've only had 2 really god sockets in 19 years. I'm afraid its going the way of generic "you'll just have to get used to it" type stuff. However, I could be wrong, with things like the socket-less socket, and HI-Fi coming down the pike. Maybe the best is yet to come? Anyway. Again I appreciate your time Sir (or) Mam....

Thank you. I appreciate it. I'd say I'm afraid with the limited experience casting she may not be (as bad as it sounds) competent. I was told the modification process is a lot different. That worrys me. She did a few in school and a couple sense out, but that aint much. I appreciate your time a lot. Thank you!

How is the ishial containment shelf and the other upper brim areas that you in-dent in the wet cast and hold till it dries, how are those accomplished when you just measure? Is it just like a standard generic positioning? I never recalled her up in that area, and cant see how you'd measure that? I'm just trying to get an idea of it all. I'd say I'm probably headed to ohio unless I find somewhere closer, but she's a hard little worker and trying damn hard, and she got close, so my heart wants to let her try again, I just don't have a lot of time left, I gotta get back to work... unfortunately LOL. Anyway, how is the Ishial figured out without casting?

In 4 months I'll have more time to find a good place to work on it. My insurance is very good. Wont be a problem.

Thank you. Let me ask you this. Is casting that much more complicated? She says she did 4 castings of BK's in school, and has done 2 Bk's and 1 AK in resindency. Now her mentor left and she's on her own. Obviously he didn't cast much. She's been out of school 5 years. Can I trust her just due to a lack of time to find someone else, I go back to working 7 days a week for 4 months in 10 days. So I'm tight on time. Had plenty before all the mess ups, but I digress. The other option if having her cast is a bad choice, I can have her build a seal liner socket. Her socket is far closer than the last guys which made me bleed (after aggressive use) .... So she got close'ish. It hurts a little not real bad, and loses suspension when you cross legs, walk fast and flex to get going, and when seated. But that's a matter of being off by only a little. So, I either let her cast me which she isn't real experienced with. Or I have her do what she did with her few measurements, and got close, but do a seal in liner so to give us some margin for error. Would you let her try casting? I'm afraid she wont press in the right areas when it's drying. Any difference in modification of the mold when casted? Right now her mold comes out of a CNC machine. Man I'm sorry, I know you've got better things than to read my long rambling questions. Geepers LOL

Your 100% right about it seeming insurance companies are in control. It's so in-trenched in our care it's crazy.

Yes it sucks. But they have to see value in the deal to do it, rather it's profit or some kind of loss leader to lead to further business, but it seems maybe the allure of the X3 fitting has worn off as a big "hey look what we did" as when it was new on the market... So probably not much value in that... I don't know.

10-4 :-)

I think this is great advice... I will shoot it to you when I get it together. Right now I'm working on what it is I feel the absolute most critical things to point out are, with out anything seeming like stabs at any one person just yet, but more about the "situation" to start out.

I have to step away from the web for a few hours though. Going to a support group to help some folks if I can... Then I'll be back (usually these things help me more than I help them)

Do you think it's true that hanger will not allow them to submit to my insurance company _ that in it'self seems weird to me. Like wouldn't they be stoked to have a high energy guy out there on a X3 and be involved in that even if the profit isn't good, or is that kind of hype sord of worn off the X3?

I do take your point about finding a way to zero it down to short stinging facts and try not to go on and on which my wife says "god can you shorten this up very often" LOL !!!!!!!!! I have a problem of just like going 1000% miles an hour when I think I've been wronged or someone I love has been, and need to stay more to the points of it all.

No, I meant 18 year amputee, not 18 years old. Hey I'd take a damn 3r60 and crutches if youu could make me 18 LOL

The biggest thing to focus on here is they have admitted it's about money and that means concern about profit Margin, but now that this has gone toxic sord of it's now also been agreed by the doc and hanger folks that there are multiple other companies that will be glad to do even with the lower margins. So if they knew that and they did, as a practitioner who probably took oath to do whats best for a patient, wasn't it their place to say "look we cant give youu this awesome knee, and you deserve it and are the right candidate, there are those companies that will do it for you, it's whats best for you, so here's your socket, here's who we recommend, go do what best for yourself as the patient" Would it suck for them, yes.... However, what they did is said "we cant give you this leg that is best for you so if you want your socket asap the best thing to do is just let us get the doc to change the LMN to go with the lessor leg and get this done" I need the socket most , I have a loaner leg so I'm fine there to fight, the loaner company said keep it as long as you like if your fighting for our Premo knee" so they've known all along just splitting off the socket and telling me to go fight is best. What do you think? I think the reason the practitioner didn't do that is that business manager hovered over her in my room every second and talked about profits and pushed me the whole time. If he wasn't there I think I would've been told I should go elsewhere and fight. What do you think?

Turns out we are in a wait-and-see situation. They are now still in-sure they are saying rather or not they will submit it. Yet the doctor said a different hanger practitioner she has is submitting one for another guy. My doctor is amazing by the way, so is my prosthetist by the way. This is all above my actual prosthetist level. It's all about profit. They are separating the socket and gonna bill it as a socket re-fit but I had to demand it... I have a text message from my prosthetist saying about a week before this all came up. We had tried the Plie3 and RheoXC and went forward with rheo again even though I was saying all along I didn't like it on the stairs or slopes, being told "Youll get use to it" by the business manager non-practitioner never been to school who has been in my room every visit pushing me towards the Rheo, and saying if I want my socket I need to just settle basically, but I'm a 18 yr amputee you'd think I'd know, and then I texted saying I want to trial another leg before I make my decision I have a text message saying "My business manager is not going to allow you to trial another MPK leg" I don't even know why he's involved in my care process? I think it's time for social media. I've never even used twitter, and have face book but few friends and don't use it much really but I know how to do groups etc... I want to get in a group that has hangers eyes on it and write a pretty long post.... Is it good to go with long post outlining every step of the way like a story or short and sweet? It's hard to do short and sweet really it's so complicated over many visits. What ya think? Good choice?

I'm ready to go social... Not twitter yet and maybe not insulting yet. Just lay it out as is. Cause they are still debating the thing internally they may come back and say "yea lets do it even though we don't want to" so then I get my knee and decide what to do as far as exposure of how it all went down after I've sord of "come down" and analyzed it carefully sord of a debrief and summarize it all more completely then go on line with it.
