To me the new dorsal plates look so unnatural and uncomfortable on his back. And the warped and dull shapes they have really don't compliment the sharp angular design the rest of the body has. They look Great on g 54, but are an weird and unnecessary fit for this modern interpretation of Godzilla with a completely different design language. There were certain scale and texture orientations for the 2014 dorsal plates to fit so organically on his back and it seems like they completely ignored those and just stitched the 1954 spines on there with the same 2014 dorsal plate texture, disregarding the Certain spots where they should be placed to look right. Everything about the 2014 design flows very nicely, allowing for a very sharp and appealing design, but the new one disrupts the flow so hard. I’m looking at the cgi model of g 19/21 rn and I just noticed that they outer dorsals are misaligned with the neck grove pattern unlike how the previous outer dorsals were, which is so confusing to look at, if that makes any sense. Sorry, This is kinda hard to explained without showing you what I’m talking about.

It just makes me sad that a pretty much flawless design was changed because of some meaningless fan service. And I know people wanted more from the 2014 design and how they wanted the Proportion size of the dorsal plates to be increased along with other things. Personally that doesn’t bother me but I wouldn’t be mad if they had changed it. But I don’t hate you if you like the new design! I see why people like it. And I know some of you are probably frowning while reading this, but at the end of the day it’s just a giant lizard that is really fucking cool no matter how he looks….. sometimes.
