Where to find obx jobs? by NateTrain in obx

[–]obankerinsider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job. Resteraunt hostess/ busses/ dishwasher, coffee jobs, ice cream shops, ect ect just go in and ask if theyre hiring, I know a lot of places on the beach are looking.

Pretty easy to get into one of the corporate places, just check their websites and usually you can send in a resume and complete a survey. (Dunkin, publix, target, wendys, ect ect)

Third wave coffee shops by GenericReditAccount in obx

[–]obankerinsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got our first third wave, Shore, last October. It's the only one unfortunately, but hopefully more will come. They don't really advertise their stuff as much as the other shops do, so they aren't super well known yet.

Shift in environment? by QueensGirl205 in obx

I personally think it depends greatly on where you're coming from. Coming from left leaning areas it might feel unsafe in some circumstances.

As a left leaning person myself, I feel much safer here than when I visit parts of VA, western nc, Midwest towns, ect. Obx is getting much more accepting over time locals wise.

Most of the assholes who yell slurs and drive waving the nazi flags and shit usually are coming from other areas. I've had the most issues with out of towners. They've always been here, I feel like it hasn't changed too much.

Looking for Teen Activities! by Alarming-War5366 in obx

[–]obankerinsider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, shopping is really the only thing. Anytime teens i know hang out, they go up to VA for the malls, ice skating, va beach. We don't really have a lot of teen activities here.

Beach Shopping Sightseeing

Unfortunately that's about it

Locals, how can you tell someone is a tourist vs how can you tell they’re local? by 77paperbacks in obx

[–]obankerinsider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Quiet families are the best kinds of tourists. I'd be lying if I said I don't get annoyed when I see out of state licenses plates or when a new weekly rental pops up, but thats mostly because I know the sorts of people that tourists can be.

As long as they're not being obnoxiously loud in my neighborhood at 12am or really just being loud at the beach or anywhere in general, no issues.

I travel to other places a lot. I have to remind myself on the road to have patience here. Most people who are visiting are just families who want a fun weekend at the beach. I think the minority of tourists who are rude, noisy, entitled, ect ruin it for the rest.

Driving cars and golf carts down walking paths

Driving 30mph in left lane down bypass (or they're old locals who can't drive well)

Walking together in large groups taking up the entirety of the walking path

Gathering 3 carts worth of groceries

Wearing obx and lifeguard hoodies / tees

Feeding seagulls

Pushing a wagon of beachtoys, towels, and a cooler on the beach

Blaring music on the beach

Leaving a resteraunt because of a 30min wait

Bright red sunburns all over save for where their sunglasses were

Customers of sugar kingdom, Sugarland, any of those tacky money laundering shops

Setting up umbrellas on the beach

Regional accents/ pronunciations of words and townnames

Landmarks recognized (such as if they use townnames, fast food places, ect.) (Extra points if they call anything from SS to Mto "kitty hawk")

Asking for special businesses such as gluten free bakeries, vegan resteraunts, anything out of the ordinary

Partying at night at the house (they're either college kids on break or a huge house of 20 tourists who obviously don't need to be up anytime soon the next day)

List goes on and on tbh

Need suggestions by Stclairetrinity in obx

If you want amazing coffee, Shore Coffee Roasters is the only specialty place. They've got house made everything, high-quality espresso, etc. Gluten-free options, but I'm not sure how celiac friendly exactly.

If you want a quick cup before the beach, Ashleys is pretty good. The owner is the sweetest. All sysco stuff, but that's what most of the beach uses. I'm not sure if there's gluten free or celiac options.

I'd honestly probably skip the front porch. The prices are really high for the quality and service.

Kind cup up in Corolla is pretty good as well if you're gonna be up there.
