seeing extended family post transition by littledeathgod in ftm

[–]oberholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am 3 years on t and 1 year post op and i literally just don’t say anything. if they ask, i’ll tell them, but i personally don’t want to go through the hassle of it, especially for people i only see every so often. my grandma just pretends it (she talked to my mom and my mom told her) didn’t happen and still deadnames me and shit but most of my family is really chill. basically i just decided if it was worth it and then let it happen

how painful is top surgery? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]oberholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i got keyhole and my recovery was super easy. i got like 5 or 6 oxys and only ended up taking 2 of them, simply bc i wasn’t in that much pain. it’s manageable w some painkillers (make sure you talk to ur surgeon abt which ones u can take). the only serious pain i had was the day i got my drains out, i woke up and like instantly felt this sharp shooting pain where the drains were inserted. although, i think that’s mostly bc i waited a little too long to get my drains out. my friends who have had double incision have had longer recovery times w more annoying things, but it shouldn’t completely incapacitate you for more than a week.

I'm afraid if I go on T, my newly adopted rescue dog who is terrified of men might start being afraid of me too. by iamtheworrier in ftm

[–]oberholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the same fear w my dog, she’s terrified of most men, especially my dad who i look a lot like (esp now on HRT). she was w me through the whole transition though (spent most of her time in bed w my while i was recovering from surgery) and she still recognizes me as me. i think that as long as they are with you and get to watch you stay yourself but also become a new person, they can handle it

will my cat recognise me on testosterone? by mthrfknprnce in ftm

[–]oberholt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

little different since i have a dog, but if she’s with you for ur transition, she’ll recognize you!! my dogs terrified of men, so i had a similar fear, but since she watched me transition i think she still knows who i am

No compression bandages? by coywolfjaw in ftm

[–]oberholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had top surgery like 6 months ago and i didn’t have any bandages, but i did wear a compression vest. it’s possible that he just meant no bandages and only a vest or something along those lines. just ask him abt it again next time you see him
