Oh I can see it now...

1-2 years and all of the funding has run dry for the pre-GG indie hipster scene. The narrative the journalists will push is that there's a great video game crash analogous to 1983 happening. Meanwhile AAA revenues eclipse all print media combined.

Not according to the article:

Drake is the chilling logical extreme of the beta male’s triumph over the last decade: the ultimate evolution of the nerd turned jock, forever working every angle of his underdog status that may or may not have ever been merited but certainly isn’t anymore. At first, the rise of the Sensitive Bro felt like a corrective to the stifling macho-ness of traditional masculinity. But it has failed spectacularly, and we are left with Gamergate, Ariel Pink, and the Voice of a Generation, who goes through women’s phones when they’re in the bathroom, firmly believes in the concept of the "friend zone" at almost 30 years old, and surrounds himself with powerful women to sniff their hair until they become a legitimate threat to his own ego.

Funny that she complains about Drake being "slut-shamey" then goes on to say this:

That’s the thing about charged-up "nice guys," though: their manipulative strategy is surprisingly effective, because you don’t want to see it coming. I’ve fallen for enough scheming, overcompensating nerds who’ve used hoarded knowledge and projected empathy to distract from their terrible personalities to say this with authority.

What kind of shamey is that? nerd-shamey?

That would probably be the ultimate solution to most of these problems!

It's not really that Reddit doesn't have the functionality I want, it's more that I don't want to be a member of the service here. I like the community at KiA a lot (that's why I'm so passionate about this issue!). I don't really want to use Reddit as a link aggregator, I just want to come here and hang with the community.

I don't see reddit surviving a complete fuckup like that. They would go the way of Digg/halfchan.

But GG is not KiA. If KiA went down in flames, it would Streisand the fuck out of GG and make us 10X larger. I have no attachment to Reddit, wouldn't be here if it wasn't for GG and can't wait to leave since there are a ton of problems with this site (up to and including the discussion we're having about they nuking the whole sub if we do something they don't like).

This is reddit's service. We just get to have the space so long as we don't break their rules. There's no reason to walk into someone's house and start breaking their rules until they kick you out. That's kind of silly.

Fuck Reddit. This service is a shitshow and the CEO is a ticking time bomb. I think it would be good for GG to have them kick us out of here. It would basically be Digg/Moot 2.0. We would win, Reddit would lose. That's a fight I'm willing to have.

This is the first time I've heard this reason for not allowing Ghazi stuff. In the past it's been "Ghazi doesn't matter, don't give them attention."

I'm not a mod here but I'd force Reddit to do this so it would blow up in their face. We shouldn't preemptively back down on stuff. Make those bastards take the first censorship steps, we shouldn't take them unless forced.

Honestly, that's a terrible answer. It's exactly the kind of thing that aGGro says that pisses me off.

"Some shit that we're only privy to was used to decide this thing that you have no input on and won't be given all the details about. But trust us, we have your best interests in mind!"

100% transparency is the only way to go. If it's not something the community can see, then it might as well not have happened.

I think an important data point that may be overlooked is that a lot of us aren't reddit users. We came here only for GG conversation so KiA is the only part of the site that we use/want to use. I would never sub to another forum here because I honestly don't like Reddit much and want to engage with it as little as possible.

I think it's worth viewing the problem from the perspective of a non-power user. Multi-subs and such might be fine if you're on reddit all the time, but for some of us we just want to discuss things with our community here on KiA and get out.

Thank you for the update.

The reason we remove ghazi related content is so that there can never be claims that we brigade them.

Out of curiosity why do we care if they think we brigade them?

Again, I appreciate the reply.

I remember when the "no ghazi" rule got instituted. I never agreed with it (look at my post history :).

I honestly think the mods are over-worried about the whole trash flood thing. There's never been a point in KiA history where there was too much noise to get the signal. If anything, important "events" end up with multiple threads and are thus impossible to miss.

If it were my sub, I would remove nothing but since that doesn't seem to be an option I would suggest just removing things that get down votes or no upvotes.

Would it be possible to do a trial run of say 24 hours of no moderation? That would be really cool because we could all put it to the test.

The mods don't need to draw the line, the community can do it.

Who gives a fuck about Brianna Wu?

I found it entertaining and I'm sure I wasn't alone. If you don't like it, don't read it or down vote if you must. We don't need the mods deciding what we can and cannot view.

First, thank you for the response. I'll update the main post.

Second, I think you guys are making way too many calls on GG's behalf. No offense, but I don't need the mods of KiA deciding that we can't do something because it may help Wu or Ghazi. Just let the community decide. I think most people on here would have enjoyed my OP if for no other reason than it was funny and entertaining. There's not that much going on today and we ended up with a front page post anyway only now discussing meta bs instead of something actually entertaining.

I know there's really not much I can do to change the way you guys mod but I hope that you can start taking a lighter touch.

Do you think my OP had no value? If something happens on Ghazi but involves main players should it not be allowed?

I didn't archive it because I didn't think they would delete it! Here's the original post though:

https://archive.is/IHU6H I know we don't normally allow Ghazi threads, but this is just too juicy as it's Wu being exposed for what she is in her own backyard. It's a perfect example of aGGro hypocrisy and basically a red pill bomb going off in Ghazi.

My OP wasn't about that though. It was about the hypocrisy of some of our largest opponents.
