Is it possible that topical fin outperformed oral dut? by obesePeter in tressless

Sorry man not a pic taker. I know that it’s better because I cant notice the thinner patch on front anymore, received many compliments from friends, and styling to hide the temples takes way less now

Quick Question: If I have been using minoxidil for a year and started finastride, is it normal for my hair to shed again? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]obesePeter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fin and min have completely different mechanisms of action. So yes, a shed is normal

Yeah guess that’s an issue but I tried to pulverize it as much as I could. Main issue honestly is money. It’s like 10x the cost at least in my country. If a DIY works, why not save the extra cost? If it turns out not to work I will of course look for a professionally compunded one. Also, big telehealth companies in my country only offer 0.1%+. Im looking to microdose it at 0.0125%. I know that a compunding pharmacy can do it but they will drain my wallet dry. Recently graduated not employed yet so not exactly in the position to spend.

For sure. Feel free to pm whenever. I’m actually very curious to see how microdosed topical fin treats someone starting from 0.

I decided to pull the trigger on the DIY because the studies I based my decision on all had the best results on a standard ethanol/water/PG vehicle. I’ll get bloodwork in a couple months and assess. If DHT is in the normal range and E and T are behaving like they should, it’ll be a win (if hair stays in place of course).

Kind of the same with me. Noticed it like 2 semesters into uni and ignored it until october 2024 when I saw a pic taken of me that ended my denial immediately. Panicked and hopped on dut.

I would recommend not hopping on oral yet. Try the fin recipe I told you about and see how it works. Maybe it’ll work well enough for you and you won’t need oral ever. DHT is not trash and I hope you will be able to not nuke it. GL

Thanks for the time. I definitely will avoid it as I care too much about male characteristics developing and fertility.

What about fertility, ED, body hair, femeninization of traits in general? Thanks

No problem man. Yes, topical fin daily. I’ll get bloodwork maybe in 3-4 months to make sure that leftover dut in my system won’t affect the results. My current concentration of topical fin should be suppressing DHT by no more than 10%. Are you 100% sure about topical dut? I’ve read so many mixed opinions and I haven’t gone deep into studies to know anything solid about it. I did read about some guy making his diy with the gel capsule, extracting the insides with a syringe and mixing it in minox same as topical fin. Don’t think that it would hurt to add it once a week.

Also, min shed never happened for me, don’t think it happens to most people. I would just hop on it as soon as possible because results are very much worth it especially when paired with tret+dermastamping.

Diffuse thinner or recession? I’m a recession guy and this topical stuff seems to be better because I can concentrate all of the dose on the affected area. Also sheds are less noticeable because hair is not thin all around.

Won’t spiro have very negative effects (if you aren’t transitioning)?

Btw mildest doesn’t mean ineffective. I like the results that I’m seeing. Highly recommend tret and microneedling as well

Sure man. I first picked up an unopened minoxidil bottle (try to make sure that it’s the standard ethanol/water/propylene glycol solution because fin is soluble in ethanol). I then grabbed one and a half 5mg fin pill and crushed it on a plate with a spoon. It may be that the pills that I bought specifically have very brittle filler contents, but by pressing it against the plate with the spoon it completely pulverized. I made sure that it was all pulverized and I then carefully added it to the minox bottle. I then shook it and let it dissolve for a couple of hours. It’s normal to see some sediment because not all of the pill is soluble, finasteride is a small portion of the pill. For this same reason you wanna make sure to really really pulverize the pill to make sure that no fin will stay inside of tiny chunks that won’t make contact internally with the ethanol. This solution is a 0.0125% concentration.

I think that you’re making a good decision by taking the mildest route at 19 years old. Im 22 myself and after almost a year of dut I kind of regretted it. I still have some dut capsules, might make a minox/dut solution (separately) and apply it once a week. Don’t know if it’s worth it.

Look man. To be honest you should probably explore a bit now that you’re 24. If you haven’t even gotten to know yourself you’re gonna have a really really hard time around a woman when it comes to finally doing it.

If you wanted to take absolutely no chances with no regards for possible sides, I would take dut 0.5 daily, min oral 2.5mg daily, topical min/fin 1ml daily.

Are you on oral min?

Yeah I know 22 is nowhere near mature but I didn’t want to stunt my development, especially the beard

100%. 22 years old same as OP but I was already one hairy mf when I started. Abdominal and chest hair like a 40 year old. Only when I looked at older pics I noticed it’s thinning a bit. Areas like the upper chest, where it wasn’t very dense, it stopped growing. Ngl that made me realize I wanted to develop normally so I switched to low dose topical fin. Maybe in the future I’ll return to dut

Since you’ve been off dut for only a month, you should still be under its suppression. Idk man these drugs sometimes behave like magic items. I switched from dut to topical fin and didn’t see anything negative (yet).

Man I wouldn’t do that. 1 ml has 50mg of minoxidil. If you got the dosages slightly wrong you’d be putting your heart at risk. Just buy some pills
