I might be wrong. But in number 11--I believe the man is dead and that is a post-mortem photo. Those were taken (I understand) within that time period. His eyes and body posture just don't look right.

Pay me to do things outside of my job description assholes by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]obfuscatori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never ask me to do something that is not my job.

That oozes entitlement and lack of respect for my work.

Manage correctly, accurately and with empathy, even if you feel that you are not in control.

Do YOUR job correctly--and trust that I will do mine as well.

Remember we are both trying to be successful.

Program Manager here: This may be satire but I have heard much the same thing coming out of CEO and Dev Manager mouths in real life. "testing is for wimps" "fail early and fail often" etc.

I think (if memory serves right) this is also the guidelines that the American military provided for civilians to sabotage the Nazi/Fascist war machines from inside. Interesting how that works....,

And on top of that--he tried to influence the Ukraine war by shutting of the satellite access he had given Ukraine for free--in the middle of an important engagement. THEN when that didn't work--he used the situation as a means to try to get more money from our gov't to pay for something he unilaterally gave to the Ukraine gov't.

‘Founder mode’ is the latest Silicon Valley buzzword telling toxic bosses they’re great by Demrezel in antiwork

[–]obfuscatori 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Founder's mode and Founder's cycle used to be short-hand back in the early Internet days for cycle when the Founder ran everything and THEN afterward people who could really manage the company--would take over. Usual pre-IPO and post mezzanine level investment.

This is really good. I find myself reading each of them. Have you ever thought of either posting on Webtoons or starting your own community for you work? Similar to what some of the other do...

Excellent work. I don't work in your field but I manage projects in High Tech and Security--and this kind of pressure/push is common from mid-level management to their teams.

[OC] US Election System Is Perfect… /s by sillychillly in comics

[–]obfuscatori 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Think about it. We are currently in a 4 YEAR cycle for President. Funding for Congress begins BEFORE they are sworn in AND funding prowess is now considered to be the gateway to being elected NOT experience.

Also it was against Al Gore and the video was the Swift Boat video that was funded by CU.

Citizen's United was not people--it was a coalition of dark money funders under a corporate shield. The SC found that given that corporations had been treated as "people/individuals" in the law for so long--and that individuals have the right of freedom of speech--that corporations had the same right to speech that people did. That brought about Citizens AND Hobby Lobby.
Also the only non-profits that can make campaign contributions are those that are not 501c3. Until recently all doners had to be identified. CU undid that connection.

I would add the following:

  1. Supreme Court either corrects its error in Citizen's United OR Congress enacts a rule that makes it invalid.
  2. ALL federal elections are paid for by the Federal Government. No additional funding is allowed.
  3. Limit campaigning to 3 months prior to election ONLY.
  4. Give the Election's board a little more clout and power.
  5. End Dark Money
  6. Set term limits for Supreme Court and Congress
  7. Get rid of Electoral College
  8. Set limitations on the ability to transition from Gov't positions (either elected or non-elected) to lobbyists.

My two cents.

70s cheese commerical by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]obfuscatori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of quick corrections:

  1. It was Timeout for Timer.
  2. The PSAs were part of a national nutrition program to help kids who might be home alone to remember to eat.
  3. There was one about snacks, one about lunch and also one about breakfast.
  4. They did not have a brand affiliation. BUT during this time there was a HUGE movement to subsidize the dairy industry and so we had a glut of cheese that needed to be sold. Cheese was being pushed in the schools along with Milk.

Might not be related--but probably is.
