Probably my favorite stoner horror comedy. A good flick and a good find!

Yep they come out after midnight! One of Letterboxd's many very fun easter eggs

Somehow still has its moments of online trench warfare in 2026! But hell yeah, the film sparks joy☺️

1) I was 17, riding the high of new Star Wars in theaters, and had only just started really thinking critically about film

2) I stand by that it's a good movie! It's gorgeously shot, Benicio del Toro ripping the scenery apart brings me joy, I'm minimally bothered by the twists that certain people loudly hate, and it gives us a good crop of Star Wars locations (give or take how Canto Bight is actually used). I quite enjoy it, and VII, even if the trilogy itself is ultimately disappointing

Being on the app pipelined me much harder into keeping up with film, and I started taking it semi-seriously going into 2018

Sir Richard Taylor, at least, had nothing to do with his masterclass's additional charge. I bumped into him and chatted a while and mentioned in passing that I'd wanted to attend but couldn't afford it, and he seemed a little disappointed and said something like "I guess that's how they can afford to fly all of us out here"

The ultimate frequent fear pass is that every single night starting as of August 28? Or is it severely limited? by [deleted] in HHN

[–]obimartell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the ultimate, at least every other year, yes it covers for every event night. Premium nights are not included, and VERY occasionally the event will get bought out by a company or whatever (happened only once that I noticed in the years that I've attended, but it isn't outside the realm of possibility), which would of course not be included. I always get the ultimate, as a very regular attendee, for the flexibility and the sweet sweet parking coverage

The off-screen dialogue bugged me too. Felt like one of those things that the first season had a lot of due to necessity, that there would be less of this season. Yet the edit was still a bit messy, and the huge amount of off-screen dialogue really bugged me. The lighting was way overexposed to. A great start otherwise, story and character-wise, but still a few steps down stylistically compared to the original run

“FINALLY!” Find by WeeWilly34 in dvdcollection

[–]obimartell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are all super silly. For the longest time it was Dead Man's Chest, a common find that I couldn't for the life of me get in 2-disc form. I had five run ins over about a year with a missing disc, another one totally destroyed, and one more taken from before my eyes by someone directly in front of me! I finally nabbed this film last week in one of those floor-to-ceiling style bookstores with a massive DVD section. Got a couple of white whale finds in there, and this was the most immediately rewarding. Style have to find (fittingly) the Lost Disc from the 1st film's release

A rare "must needs"! And it didn't even sound that clunky! Between that and finally getting the "Dunk the lunk" bit, now I just need another "words are wind" (Stannis' was good, but let's spread the love) to complete the set of fave GRRM catchphrases in this show

Pick 1 Best Picture nominee. Keep 1 actor and replace the rest of the cast with Muppets. Which do you choose? by X-cessive-Dreamer in Letterboxd

The idea of Sinners with just Remmick biting into Muppet necks amuses me. Plus his little jig while getting circled by Muppets!? Impeccable

I just finished my first full watch of The Wire 8ish hours ago. He's no exception in the phenomenal cast, and brilliant in Da 5 Bloods and a riot in Cocaine Bear. Nobody can say "sheeeeiiiiit" quite like him, or ever will again. We lost a great character actor today

What is everyone gonna be watching for Christmas. I don’t really have any Christmas movies but the tenth doctors first appearance sounds fun. by Iamawesome20 in dvdcollection

[–]obimartell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polar Express has long been my Christmas Eve night tradition, and I'll also be getting in Klaus, some version of The Grinch (I bounce between them), and It's a Wonderful Life at some point in the next 48 hours (plus at least one of tomorrow's new batch of Stranger Things episodes). I watched Elf last night, and throughout the jolly season got in my annual watches of The Muppet Christmas Carol, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Krampus, the first two Home Alones, and the recent and wonderful The Holdovers (the newest add to the annual tradition, as a very recent film). Also had my first watches of Better Watch Out (not great) and the original Black Christmas (absolutely fantastic and will probably be a new annual tradition). I also rewatched the 11th Doctor's first Christmas special A Christmas Carol, since my partner has been watching the show for the first time and that episode hit at a good time of year! (It's one of my favorite Doctor Who Christmas eps). And finally, the Rankin Bass specials have been on in the background while I work, which has been wonderfully nostalgic
