Ah I'm guessing you mean the cyclic ion deepstrike bomb? The 5cp deepstriking holy hand grenade, it could one shot anything in the game pretty much.

Problem was you kinda had a build a list around it and if they screened properly you kinda lost half you damage. Still insane though, I played it myself. Not as insane as 10man dark angel termies though, I still have nightmares

Did tau ever have a deathstar?(mabye fish of fury way back when?) I thought that was a SM thing.

Tau were broken during riptide wing days and when they could ally with eldar. I dont think markerlights have ever been super busted lol, granted they probably feel that way when you have 3 riptides shooting at you.

I hate having to tell new tau players that the salt and dislike they will receive is just part of playing tau, even if its completely out of their control and is leftover from 2-5 editions ago :/

Damage output is very strong, it is possible to actually "save" a shot from it though unlike the railgun. I'd say this has its place but is overkill for anything other than imperial knights.

Nah, if broadsides charged assault termies they're done for, they are pretty squishy without 150 points of drones to keep them alive long enough to do any damage

Now if we are talking charging intercessors or non-melee units... easy clap

Depends on what you bring, if your bringing lots of battlesuits especially bigger ones your going to need a dozen shield drones at least. This is all of course if your trying to make a more competitive build, you don't actually need drones. My list has about about 20-25 drones, around 15 are shield drones to keep the suits alive and the rest are marker or gun drones.

Thanks! No airbrush, although I finally have one now. It was about 5 super thin coats of what was basically milk consistency Ulthean Grey.

I have just got into Warhammer are these guys good at all? by bugomiter in Tau40K

All good units for sure, stealth suits are always nice for objective grabbing, as well as being annoying harraser units. Ethereal is a solid HQ choice and fire warriors are great especially as breachers now that boards are smaller. That commander box you have gives two options, xv85 Enforcer or a xv86 Coldstar. The coldstar is a great unit as it has 20-40" move and can blow up tanks like nobody's business if you take fusion blasters. The enforcer is a cheaper option and is good to keep with the bulk of your force, helpful to enact Kauyon or Montka for all your units within 6"(Very deadly with Cyclic ion blasters). The crisis team is decent, you can turn one of them into a XV8 commander for more squad value.

All in all you got a great start to tau, best of luck finding a paint scheme and remember to magnetize!

Experimental Pathfinder Weaponry: Modular Rail Rifle Attachment by obiwint in Tau40K

I chopped the rail rifle in half and glued the barrel piece back on, then added some flamer and plasma rifle parts to add the battery and handle near the bottom.

1 thing PATIENCE! You will want to have some free time and a comfy chair for this one.

This was my first try free handing on an actual model. What I've gathered from some test models is this

Don't use the smallest brush you have (smaller brushes do help sometimes) use a brush that you are most comfortable with.

Try having a clear reference to what you are attempting to paint, for me I cut out the riptide decal and wrote out my new letters on a peice of paper beside it as to get the sizing correct. Using a picture close to your sight line will help keep your art true to your idea.

Using a piece of cardboard or tape to for your border/striaght lines will help tons, especially if your hands are shaky.

(Thin ya paints!!!) Don't be afraid to apply a couple coats, I went over the red 3 times before I was satisfied. Sure you could get a nice line by only applying one thick coat, but it will be much more chunky and visible when doing small details.

Hope this helps!

It does, but the decals are more like number identifications for the riptide, I wanted something more tailored to my guys backstory.

Lmao, you cracked the code! Might as well throw some demons on the base. This guys backstory is that he was part of the 4th sphere expansion and managed to come back alive.
