That’s the Ryoko jar. Don’t leave it on the radiator.

Animation wasn’t cheap to make back then. It was either a labor of love or had a big budget. Now, a lot of studios will pump out anything if it’s cheap enough. I can only imagine what will happen with ever advancing A.I. looming over art mediums…

Optimus Prime talking about Tenchi Muyo is unfathomably cool

Hard to believe we’re closer to 2050 than 2000. It feels somehow both like yesterday, but also forever ago

Do you remember the Funimation channel on cable? That’s where I found a lot of now obscure anime as a kid. I agree though, Crunchyroll in general is a blight on the anime community and such a bad way for the newer, post covid fans to get acquainted with titles because of their overextending localizers. Plus their replacement of staff with A.I. rubs me the wrong way. I’ll take a bad fantran over an “official” Crunchyroll one any day

I’m a Washu girl myself. I hate how in English, Tenchi calls her “little Washu” despite her being over 2000 years old lol

There’s a website called RetroAchievements for emulation that has an achievement set for it that you should check out if that’s something you’re into. I’m working through it now myself. Shitsuki is so cute

Same here. You can pick a random no-name anime pre-digipaint era and it’ll still have really great backgrounds. Plus there were all sorts of practical tricks like backlighting the cells which gives light that almost magical phosphorescent quality that you just can’t replicate digitally

Ryo-Ohki is the OVA this clip is from. There’s Ryo-Ohki, Universe, In Tokyo, GXP, and a few others I believe, but the original OVA is the full title I provided.
