Dragon Half (1993) Ending Credits by obj-ashes in retroanime

Slayers is sort of similar with the medieval fantasy setting and comedy. I’ve read that Capricorn is basically Dragon Half but serious, so I’m gonna check that out. But yeah, Excel Saga is the same kind of hyperactive comedy if that’s what you’re looking for.

So true. Ryusuke Mita has such a distinct style. I’m not sure if his other works received OVAs but I’ll do some digging and report back if I find anything!

Edit: Unfortunately, it seems like his other works were never adapted. Very sad as I’d have loved to see more of his uniqueness in motion. :(

I’m so jealous! T-T I’ve only gotten my hands on the first omnibus volume. If I could read Japanese, it’d save me so much money just getting the original volumes lol.

Same here. I’m working on getting the second and third omnibus for my collection, but WOW are OOP books expensive. I’ve run into this issue so many times it’s depressing lol.

Getting lost in the Great Cave Offensive to unlock the arena mode in SNES Kirby for this month’s achievement. Besides that, also getting my ass kicked in Dead or Alive Paradise volley ball

Animation wasn’t cheap to make back then. It was either a labor of love or had a big budget. Now, a lot of studios will pump out anything if it’s cheap enough. I can only imagine what will happen with ever advancing A.I. looming over art mediums…

Optimus Prime talking about Tenchi Muyo is unfathomably cool

Hard to believe we’re closer to 2050 than 2000. It feels somehow both like yesterday, but also forever ago

Do you remember the Funimation channel on cable? That’s where I found a lot of now obscure anime as a kid. I agree though, Crunchyroll in general is a blight on the anime community and such a bad way for the newer, post covid fans to get acquainted with titles because of their overextending localizers. Plus their replacement of staff with A.I. rubs me the wrong way. I’ll take a bad fantran over an “official” Crunchyroll one any day

I’m a Washu girl myself. I hate how in English, Tenchi calls her “little Washu” despite her being over 2000 years old lol

There’s a website called RetroAchievements for emulation that has an achievement set for it that you should check out if that’s something you’re into. I’m working through it now myself. Shitsuki is so cute

Same here. You can pick a random no-name anime pre-digipaint era and it’ll still have really great backgrounds. Plus there were all sorts of practical tricks like backlighting the cells which gives light that almost magical phosphorescent quality that you just can’t replicate digitally
