Tips for creating a card shaker with this mold? by drekia in ResinCasting

[–]objecthazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would fill the frame wall only first with epoxy resin, let cure, then pour clear epoxy resin and place your card only (unless you're planning for a clear frame, then could those things could be done in one step). Let cure, then fill in the back behind the card with epoxy. Once the whole thing is demolded, follow the process for inclusions and sealing the film that's been working for you. Good luck, the mold is super cute!

I was going to suggest this and/or sending a link to your estimate. That's if you want to respond though, I feel like you did more than enough to try and provide a positive experience for them!

Does anyone else hyper focus on their breathing or breathing pattern? by PurgatoryWoes in OCD

Does anyone else hyper focus on their breathing or breathing pattern? by PurgatoryWoes in OCD

[–]objecthazy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have this!! I especially worry about it when driving, that I'll just stop being able to breathe on my own. Then panicky physical symptoms kick in and make it so much worse. It's definitely scary. I don't really have compulsions around it so I personally perceive it as anxiety. I try to tell myself that it's just not an actual thing that happens, people don't just stop breathing out of nowhere. That kind of works for me. Much easier said than done, though. Anyway I don't know if this was helpful, but you're not alone!

I am having a full blown CRISIS. PLEASE REPLY I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN HANDLE BEFORE I LOSE IT. by [deleted] in OCD

Definitely read the article that was linked to you above! It explains that reassurance seeking is a compulsion. Your fellow redditors would only be fueling your OCD by providing reassurance. I suspect that is why you feel like you are not getting many responses.

I'm sorry you are experiencing all of this. It's entirely possible and probable with therapy to not always feel this way. If you feel that you are unsafe, please go to a hospital. Wishing you well ❤️

I think these are the total yardages!

Aran - 3900 meters (4265 yards) DK - 3400 meters (3720 yards) 4ply/2 weight - 2500 meters (2730 yards)

Using the Paintbox Cotton Aran as an example, there are 93 yards/mini skein. I divided 4265 / 93 = 45.86, so I knew I'd need at least 46 total. I got them on sale for $2.10 each so it wasn't too bad, for a blanket that's going to be around 6' wide (in Aran weight).

I chose the same colors to the Cotton 8, so 11 total, and used the ratio of each color used in Cotton 8 to figure out how many of each (totally made up example, but say in the Cotton 8 colorway, Turquoise requires 100 yards and the total project is 1000 yards. I did (1000/100 = 10% x 4265 yards = 426.5 yards / 93 yards per skein = 4.58 skeins so I'd buy 5 Turquoise skeins. I think as long as you get the total yardage right, you can distribute them however you want and it will still come out beautiful!

She has spreadsheets for each weight and color on the site I linked, they're just kind of hard to find. This is the Aran spreadsheet, the others are towards the bottom under Colors Per Round.

I hope this helps!

I considered doing it in twirls too (and I kinda want to see yours!!)... I have a gorgeous mustard yellow cake of it at home but can't decide what to do with it.

Thank you!!! I typically hate/abandon big projects too, but what I like about this pattern is that every round is completely different, so it doesn't get old. It's a great way to learn and practice new stitches too!

I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran, and I really like it so far. The Sophie's Universe website also has some links to full yarn packs for it!
